We don’t have an everyday Third Baseman. So they don’t really have much of a choice. He’s more than fine at Third Base. Hes just utillity role in recent years. When the other option is Valera and Smith did not hit at all during his stint.

 

Smith probably has more upside offensive potential, and a lot more reps at 3B. Anyway its a wash and not that material. Lamb? Smith? Smith is gone and I just can't stomach Valera.

 

So...Orioles are Lambs to Jake's slaughter.
