The Red Sox are annoyingly clutch. They always seem to answer the second the other team takes a lead.

Here's hoping the O's come up with a miracle rally in the top of the 9th to steal this one away.

Nice to see the Rays lose (to the Tigers) again. I'm probably projecting but I really want them to have to go all-hands on deck in the last series against NY to secure the no. 1 seed.

Then again, maybe being no. 2 and facing the White Sox is actually a better matchup for them.

Montas was cruising at 87 pitches and Bob Melvin went all Kevin Cash and pulled him. At least Cash had a good bullpen. A's don't.

That feeling when Romo comes in to try to get the save... Thanks Bob!

A's win in extras

7 games left against Seattle and 6 games left against Houston.

They probably have to go at least 9-4 or maybe even 10-3 if 92 wins is the golden number.

That's going to be real tough.

The Yankees are in a good news/bad news proposition. The good news is they are in control of their own destiny more than any other team in the AL. The bad news is that this destiny involves actually beating good teams.

As for the comments about the A's being a bigger threat, until they have a greater expected chance at the playoffs, they are not.

The A's play the mariners 7 times and Houston 6. That's not the the easiest of schedules.

With Boston's remaining schedule, I think they win 93-94 games.

That's fine

Jays will beat them in the wildcard game in Boston

NOTES

- Boston and Oakland are suddenly streaking

- Yankees in a tailspin, death watch, fire everybody and sell the team

- Boston's next 5 games are crucial because it's a cakewalk for them after that. If they win 3 of their next 5, one of the WC spots is likely for them.

- A Yankee sweep of Boston would make things very interesting. A Boston sweep or 2 of 3 vs NYY could put Toronto in a position to step on New York's neck

- Seattle is 2 games back of Oakland. They are going to put up a fight. It kind of seems like OAK and SEA will beat each other up and then both miss out.

- Tampa just had to put Kittredge on the IL. They will throw Baz and Rasmussen, two tough arms, against Toronto... followed by Wacha who is how do you say not a tough arm.
