Is there actually a precedent for this length of suspension? I can't recall any MLB players having received what would basically amount to greater than a 1.5 year suspension for a domestic violence related infraction.

Bauer should start finding other leagues to play in. perhaps the Barrie Baycats? Not sure he will be allowed into Canada though...

If anyone wants to unload him in fantasy so they don’t have a rapist on their team…I will take on this burden for at least 20 cents on the dollar

You want to roster deadweight until 2024?

I have Glasnow in bbdl. I couldn’t imagine it’d be past 2022. I’d wager half season at most. We’ll see

Did you not read above? Sheryl Ring said the suspension will be until the end of 2023.

Callway didn’t have the full force of the mlbpa behind him.

Callaway was a serial offender who committed his infractions over the course of decades. I don't know if he's a good comparable to Bauer. Roberto Osuna for instance was "only" suspended 75 games for his offence, although we never may fully know the details of what he actually did.

Tell that to Sheryl Ring.

Yeah even if mlb tried, based on prior punishments it would never make it past a year on appeal; likely half

Bauer isn’t pushing back because he’s not losing money and Dodgers don’t want him there. When they try to stop paying him, it’ll get sent to arb quick

I suspect Bauer will remain suspended until his legal jeopardy is resolved, which could take a while if there are other women besides the 2 so far, and MLB will make a decision on any further suspension at that time. Will Bauer pitch in 2022? 50/50? Who knows.

Certainly for a while yet. A lot to be written, but he might never play another MLB game.

This seems very unlikely. More realistic would be to say he might never play another game as a Dodger.

Theory:

Bauer always intended on taking huge 1 year deals (or high AAV, low years) because he knew he would get in trouble at some point and possibly lose his contract.

What is the precedent (honest question). I only remember full year suspensions as the high end of suspensions. Guys like Sam Dyson.

Wouldn't this be 2.5x that length? (half of this season + 2 more)

Pretty sure the precedent is basically fictional.

How is that a theory? If anything, that would mean he'd be even better off taking multi-year deals because it would increase the likelihood he could get some sort of settlement if the team tried to terminate his contract (rather than just letting it run out).

Damn he’s actually f***ed isn’t he?

I honestly can’t gauge if these are serious reactions or not. I want to think there’s sarcasm going on, in taking this weirdo’s musings as gospel but I’m not sure that’s what’s happening

Remember in the Osuna case and others, he was actually arrested and charges brought. In this case, so far, there are NO charges, Bauer has not been arrested, indicted, no civil case pending (so far), definitely not found liable in a civil case so far, and even the restraining order was not upheld.

How in a world where a person is presumed innocent and if the MLBPLA is worth their salt, does Bauer get a 2.5 year suspension?

Why does King even keep referencing Sheryl is beyond me..

Basically this person is trying to wish it true. Say it loud and often enough and maybe it will happen… it won’t

Ring is obviously making this judgment based on his lifetime of experience in womanhood.

Sheryl Ring is one of the few people providing unbiased coverage of the proceedings. If you read the article I posted, Sheryl writes about mistakes that Bauers camp made, the accusers camp made as well as mistakes from the judge.

Could you please refer to Sheryl by her proper pronouns?
