Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Looking at the prices for Berrios and Kimbrel, I'm f***ing annoyed how cheap the Yankees got Joey Gallo. and the cost for Schwarber?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I guess bats are cheap and pitching is f***ing expensive lol. But that being said i guess everyone is looking for arms.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I was hoping the Jays would sneak in and grab Jose Ramirez, but with these prices I'd be scared shitless of the cost.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Javy Baez to the Mets, and Harrison/Gomes to the A's according to Passan. This deadline has been really fun.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Harrison and Gomes to the A's.

For teams that play in a wild card game, good pitching depth is practically mandatory to make a good playoff run.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Williams going with Baez to the Mets.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 2019 is too far back for me to remember as I'm getting old and senile, but this deadline seems like it has had way more big names moving than normal, no?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Phillies get Gibson and Kennedy.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Phillies get Gibson and Kennedy. Feels like fools gold to me...maybe Gibson can keep it going the rest of the season though. I wonder what the return was.

Yeah. This is insane. Baseball deadlines are usually so f***ing boring. You might get one big deal. Manny Machado got traded for f***ing Yusniel Diaz. lmao.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I was hoping the Jays would sneak in and grab Jose Ramirez, but with these prices I'd be scared shitless of the cost. The cost would have been Martin and Simeon Woods Richardson lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 If the Colorado Rockies choose to trade nobody in THIS TRADE MARKET it will be one of the stupidest organizational decisions ever. One phone call to Toronto and they could have had Martin, SWR, and a nice third piece for German Marquez.
Bojangles Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Yankees getting Rizzo, Gallo and Bryant. Wow. Edit: Nevermind Nightengale got duped by a fake account

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 The White Sox have a seriously good looking team. ewww. Look at that OF. They have zero depth at all outside of the pen. Those starters better be on their game at playoffs time. Only thing they really have going for them is they can rest because their division is the worst. Much like last year I remind everyone...White Sox get it done playing bad teams well (which is good). They are 39-15 with a plus 122 against sub .500 teams. 7-13 against current playoff teams. This is a good team in a much better situation but will be run into the ground with continued stupidity.

To be honest - Marquez fits the bill as someone I would have expected to get for Martin and SWR. Someone with 3.5 years control. Oh well.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Spencer Howard ++ for Gibson and Kennedy is insane. PCA for Baez is stupid. Martin + SWR for Berrios is bonkers. Madrigal + Hueueeueueueuer for Kimbrel is batshit. All of a sudden MLB organizations don't want to covet prospects. This is a wild and historic about-face. Two or three years ago you could not have pried a player like Martin or Madrigal or PCA or Howard out of a GM's hands if you had a gun to his head.

And it’s all mostly irrelevant because the Dodgers were already god-tier and then added Scherzer and Trea and will sweep every series en route to another chip.

There definitely seems to be a reverse in philosophy. I wonder if this is a new trend or one time off? Will see next year.

That’s not how it works in the MLB playoffs, this isn’t basketball. We’ve seen inferior teams win in the playoffs countless times because it’s such a crapshoot.

This is not how baseball works......Nothing is certain, only a fool speaks in absolutes.
