Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I think one of the issues with it is that it's just 3 former players and not a professional trained broadcaster amongst them. I was thinking the same thing. These guys have spent more time talking about their lackluster careers than the game itself lol.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Matz and Ray will hopefully make up for Pearson's absence Between Ray, Stripling, Matz, Roark if just two of them can give reliable mid-rotation innings, the Jays should be competitive enough until Pearson returns. Acquiring a stud SP at the deadline would also be ideal.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Good stuff Riley Adams. That's some easy oppo power.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Adams goes Yard!!! bye bye McGuire
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Hiraldo cranked that pitch at his neck like 400 feet to the pull side, god damn.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 These guys laughing at the notion of a strong wind or a deadened ball lol
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 What a common sense bunt that should be done a lot more often.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 "OH MY GAWWWWWD" Jism, over a bunt.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 How is Bergen on this team again, lol???
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 "Chicks dig old school, station to station baseball, dingers be damned!" My wife loves my dinger. I don't know what you're talking about.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Bergen basically started pumping fastballs down the middle when s*** hit the fan and he struck everyone out.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I believe tomorrow's game is the SN crew, I wonder how that'll look. Chicken Strip on the bump.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Bergen basically started pumping fastballs down the middle when s*** hit the fan and he struck everyone out. Randomly picked him up on LOD, hope he sticks haha
spats Verified Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Adams goes Yard!!! Blue Jays catching is so deep, may have to move Riley to another position. He looks athletic enough to play elsewhere.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 So how's the bench going to shake out? I'm assuming we go with 8 relievers so that's 4 bench spots. One is a catcher(Kirk) another is Rowdy/Grichuk depending on who you put in the top 9 and 2 spots left. Espinal, Panik, Davis. Who makes it? Davis and Espinal have options I believe. Could they go with 3 catchers and retain McGuire?

Jonathan Davis is nearly 29 and his options are starting to run out. If they like him he's not really the type of guy you keep down to continue getting "regular ABs".

If they like him he's not really the type of guy you keep down to continue getting "regular ABs". Somehow Davis still has an option. I don't think they would ideally keep 5 outfielders, but Davis does have a speed element and solid late inning defense that could be valuable. He's done everything he can to make the club too. I kind of feel bad for the kid. I feel like that option prevents him from making the team, but maybe he takes that 26th spot.

He's fine as injury depth in AAA. Maybe pinchrunning and the odd late inning replacement here and there.

I'm going to guess our bench ends up being Grichuk/Tellez, Kirk, Panik and Davis. Davis has done well this spring and having the pinch running/defensive substitutions late in games is pretty important. There will be a lot of games where Grichuk plays in the field and Teo DH's with no OF left on the bench. Yes, Biggio can play OF but unless there's injuries, there's no need to move him all over the diamond this year. Especially when the difference between Davis and Espinal is minimal.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 With Biggio able to play OF I expect Espinal, Panik, Kirk, Rowdy/Grichuk. Davis getting regular AB at AAA. Nah, they need a solid CF on the bench
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 So carry 7 arms in the 'pen until then? Maybe. I do not think there is a prayer McGuire clears waivers. I couldn't care less, honestly. He is as meh as they get. At least in our system where we have all the catchers.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Nah, they need a solid CF on the bench Yeah, I could see Davis being kept as a 5th OF/pinch runner/defensive replacement. The team doesn't have a legit backup CF. Grichuk can play there, but he's better suited for RF. The fact that Davis has an option left is the only reason they might not put him on the 26 man roster. That, and it depends a lot on how many pitchers they want to carry. If the "taxi squad" is still a thing (don't remember if it is), then he'll probably end up being on it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Big test going up against Cole.

I've never been too much of a Davis fan, but to his credit he keeps producing. And has plus defense. Last year I wouldn't have cared if he was DFAed. Now I can see him as a long term piece on this roster.
