InsideThePark Verified Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Lets be real. Stroman is about as serious about coming here as Bauer was. If he can say he's willing to come to Toronto to try to help build a bidding war he will and that's about the extent of it.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 f*** him. He can take a long hard suck on my ass, and then he can f*** off. Bribery will get you nowhere. He ain't coming back John.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I like Stroman more than most it seems... probably because I'm not on social media lol. I doubt our front office takes back anyone from the 2015/2016 teams... they made it a priority to get rid of everyone from that team since they were mostly AA supporters and never seemed to get along with Shatkins.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Bribery will get you nowhere. He ain't coming back John. Dude cuts his dogs ears off because he thinks he needs to. I hope he gets hit by a bus while walking that dog and said pooch eats his still beating heart out of his chest while he’s trying to dial 911.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Stroman's awesome. I'd love to see him back on the team. Would be great PR, too.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I didn't see this when it happened, and just thought I'd share...
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 I didn't see this when it happened, and just thought I'd share... Looks like Vlad took the lead back over Semien. Trea Turner wins MLB WAR. Dodgers acquired best player in baseball and best pitcher at deadline won 106 now 1 game play-in. Also the explanation isn't great but basically Semien 20 runs better on defense, Vlad 20 runs better on offense and they end up almost tied.
Scion Verified Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 People obsess too much over decimal places atop the WAR leader board. The error bars on fWAR are such that any gap in WAR that small is negligible. You can argue that anyone between 6-7 WAR was the best player in baseball this year and have a sound argument.

This is false, cropping dog ears for his breed is common to prevent infection among other things. Stroman is a douche, but not for this.

Why doesn't his name come up as a leading candidate for NL MVP? Simply because he played for 2 teams? Is Trea Turner the best SS in baseball now?

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 No homeruns = no good 28 homeruns though. Batting title. Stolen base title. fWAR title.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Its been said before many times but Grichuk..so much suck this year for $10.4mm. Gave him 545 PAs and he gave us 0.4 WAR.

Yes. He needs to be gone. Too much money for something that Palacios can probably provide next year for 500k. Free up that 10m for a big contract.

Gave him 545 PAs and he gave us 0.4 WAR. he's horrendous. there is no hope. was completely useless for most of the latter part of the season too. like I bet the WAR split was +1 first half and -0.6 second half or something like that.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 I was just on Fangraphs salary page and its showing Manoah being a free agent in 2027....He didnt come up to the big club until May ....Im sure he is a free agent in 2028 because 21 shouldnt count as its not a full year of service. Am I wrong on this? https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/payroll/blue-jays?fbclid=IwAR3VzXFYv1bU-SDK-isDjvIR3IeAt2jBeVImcrKkUKmQabyvdZy9kh5dMVI

April 1st - May 31st: 52 games, 0.9 fWAR June 1st - October 3rd: 97 games, -0.5 fWAR Ooof

They should control him through 2027. Free agent before 2028.

Free up that 10m for a big contract. Would be nice to get out of that contract, but no one is taking a replacement level 4th OF with nearly $19m left on his deal. Best bet would be to get an equally bad contract in return that has a bit more value to the Jays. Maybe the Brewers would trade JBJ for him? At least JBJ would fit the team better as a 4th OF (LHB, can legit play CF) and money with buyout mixed in is about equal. Either way, that's the type of deal that you would have to expect for Grich. That 5 year deal feels as long as Pujols' deal with the Angels.

The Twins save money on this deal (just about $20 million total) and get a prospect who's pretty much ready to try his craft at the MLB level and replace JD at 3B, we fill a hole at 3B and get a more productive player for our money without having to make a long term commitment. Then go hard after a LHB that can play some OF, DH and maybe even fillin at 1B. Plan A - Schwarber Plan ? - Dickerson

I'm all for getting Donaldson, he seems to have regained health.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Watching Brantley yesterday for HOU its so apparent why the Jays made a run at him. His LH bat would have been ideal for our line up. 2/32 was a solid deal for him at 34

I think his projected value is 20 million. Don't see why you'd need to include Smith. Maybe a completely useless prospect just for show. However Grichik for Donaldson straight up is probably fair, and still maybe a risk, at least that's what the machines seem to say

He'd probably hang up before the sentence was even finished.
