Since Vlad has amassed 5.2 WAR so far, has a 1.062 OPS, is a threat for the triple crown, actually runs really well and is doing a solid job at 1B I don't think I'm ready to start questioning if he's gained some weight back or not.

It's funny how since our manager of the year decided to rest Vladdy for game, Vlad has only put up a .700 OPS in the 4 games he's been back, possibly his worst stretch of 4 games all season and almost instantly some numb nut comes in questioning Vladdy's fitness again.

4 game sample size..just think about that...meanignless.

Vladdy wasn't going to play 162 games, and y'know... sample sizes like this have zero value.

I know all that.

I'm saying it's interesting how that as soon as Vladdy slows down just a little bit someone starts s***ing on him.

A significant caloric deficit diet isn't sustainable long term, and I assume that is what Vlad was on this off-season because there really is no other way to shed 20+ lbs in such a short period of time. Even staying at a maintenance calorie intake is probably hard for a guy who is used to consuming X calories during a major league season and thus some weight gain is to be expected as you said. More lasting and meaningful body shifts take longer than one season to accomplish, it requires a lifestyle change and time.

I’m sure it wasn’t just calories. I saw pics of him sweating off pounds in the Dominican sun. During the off-season you can also take supplements to get the thermo pumping that you prob otherwise can’t during season

Also if you just look at the general standings across the league, the position of teams in each division pretty much lines up with highest to lowest run differential (except a few cases but even then the numbers are close).... except the Blue Jays and the Braves.

The Jays run differential is 100 points higher than the 3rd place Yankees who are ahead of them in standings. About 70 higher than the Redsox. 10 higher than the first place Rays.

I mentioned this the other day, for the most part the Pythagorean numbers work out, frustrating our pen pissed away too many games, we'll see how these numbers work out come October.

At least he's admitted it's a lifestyle change, I believe the 2 trainer's that were with him in the DR and Dunedin are going with him again, IIRC.

and they invite Kirk to go with them?...

Kirk must be starting to see the competition for next season along with Moreno for catching duties. After seeing Vladdy's improvement this yr he must be seeing what changes that he needs to make in the off-season for a much more demanding position than 1st base.

Man I'd be in great shape too if a couple of trainers with cattle prods followed me around all winter

I heard Kirk lost 20 lbs in the off season, hopefully he keeps it up, that kid is big.

How about the fact that the Blue Jays have a +114 run differential and are in 4th place and the Mets have a -11 run differential and are winning their division?

Isn't that fun?

"SquadUp" --> literally can't figure out what team this is without googling it. horrible tag marketing.

all of those hashtags suck ass though

If you click on the tweet, the hashtags have team emblems attached to them on Twitter itself.

Agreed though, s***** hashtags.

The Red Sox are just "#DirtyWater" apparently.

wtf is dirty water supposed to mean? an inside joke about fenway because it's full of poo? a not too sneaky appeal to their redneck fanbase?

It's a song by The Standells that refers to Boston and the harbour/river that were notoriously polluted when the song came out.

It was shocking to see the worst pitching staff in the history of baseball come out and have such a good start to the season. Regression to the mean is hitting them hard and it came at a great time.

Dude, that's a stupid flex by SN... Boston's ranked 6th in MLB in pitching, Toronto 24th??? We're finally starting to move up and them down, but it's not close.

FUN fact:

The Blue Jays are 8 games above .500. They're 4th in the AL East.

The Mets are 4 games above .500. They're 1st in the NL East.

Jays are +20 against the Red Sox and 6-9. Just flipping that alone to a record that reflects a +20 would at a minimum leave a virtual three way tie between Sox, Jays and Yankees.

Is there any discussion locally about increasing the fan count from 15k?

Probably not gonna happen if you look at what is going on... In certain places ... With certain things...

Just found out the Gardener/DVP is closed for the weekend for maintenance/construction.

Just an FYI to anyone heading to the dome

Manoah's been great, but how come his fastball doesn't average 95 mph? I see other top prospects averaging 95+. He is 6'6. We regularly compare him to Lynn, but doesn't Lynn average 95+ with his FB?
