Yeah the 26 is incorrect, he'll have to pass his test Wednesday the 23rd.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 I was looking forward to seeing Vlady Vs Ohtani but totally understand him opting out. Plus if Ohtani wins, imagine the hype for next yrs HR Contest if Ohtani wins this year and Vlady enters next season's.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 This makes me happy actually. Don't need this f***ing up his swing.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Selfishly I would've liked to see Vladdy in the Derby. But if he feels that skipping it will give him a bit of a breather and help him with the 2nd half playoff push then I'm all for it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Red Sox back in first place but play back to back series against the Rays and Yankees At the very least it guarantees no more than one team surges ahead in the standings

Split the 4 game series... the Jays 2 wins were by 10+ runs while the Redsox 2 wins were by 1 run, both being walk-off wins where the Jays were leading most of the game. Extremely frustrating.

So much wrong with that statement. Jays won 7-2 on saturday. And never lead the monday game.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't really care much for the HR derby. For me, it's not that exciting.

I feel the same about the hr derby. no interest. But have to admit watching all that top young talent and Ohtani at Coors was something that had my interest. But still glad Vlad said no. He is on a roll playing great on offense and D. Just keep it going. I would guess that derby makes for a exciting but tiring and stressful evening.

Then again - I have 3 young boys, so it's a fun night for us. I still think it's the best skills competition in any of the 4 major sports and truly is an event that can feature the 'stars' of baseball (as opposed to the dunk competition, which is usually full of a bunch of 11th or 12th guys off the bench who nobody cares about).
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 So what time does Springer get activated and announced as our leadoff hitter playing CF today? Lol

Would love to see various of skills being exhibited.....fastest man to first and/or around the bases and outfielders speed/accuracy throws to home are the two at the top of my head!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I don’t love Pat Tabler, and that was a suggestion so braindead that it should be fireable for a colour analyst.
Benito Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Lol. Did Pat provide some kind of reasoning for this suggestion? Not that it matters for such an absurd idea.

NHLPRO Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Bichette Biggio Vladdy Teo Springer Grichuk Gurriel Jr. McGuire Semien Pretty nice lineup he might not be so far out of left field on this 1!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Baseball needs to get some new, fresh blood into their announcing ranks. The Jays broadcast when it’s just Buck and Pat is like the dictionary definition of “out of touch”. Can’t promote the sport to a younger demo with guys like that still employed in prominent roles.

So randemly putting Semien who is unquestionably your second best hitter this year in any measurable behind McGuire, Gurriel, Biggio and Grich? And Bo with the 5th best OBP leading off? Semien Bo Vladdy Hernandez Springer Biggio Grich Gurriel McGuire And when Springer gets a couple weeks under his belt and if he is outpreforming those above him move him up. The only must is Vlad does not hit below 3 in the order. EVER.
