gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Bottom line is that we're going to need a LHB that can play outfield. If I'm Shatkins, I'm exploring a way in obtaining Jesse Winker or Tyler Naquin from Cincinnati in a trade for Gurriel + or Grichuk +. For Winker there would have to be more but you should get the 30 year old Naquin straight up. I would love to see Winker in LF for us next year. What would be realistic as an added piece to get Winker?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 By theory the order should be... Springer Vlad Bichette Teo Semien Biggio Your best hitter overall hitting 2nd. Your 3rd best overall hitter should be hitting 5th. 4th best overall hitter hitting 3rd. Why is biggio on your list over Grichuk and even Gurriel? Come on man lol. Correct answer will be: Springer Bo Vlad Teo Semien Grichuk
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 I say Springer leadoff for sure I like the thought of keeping Vlad 3rd though to make sure he gets a PA in the first inning every game Second or third in the order for MVP Vlad fo sure.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Bottom line is that we're going to need a LHB that can play outfield. Why? It would be nice but its definitely not a NEED. The OF is kinda set for the next few yers, I think it would be great to bring in a 3B that hits left. But again, its definitely not a need. The team desperately NEEDS arms. Reliable starters and back-end relievers.

He also might not be a massive upgrade. If they are pushing chips in it will be for pitching

RobinThicc Verified Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Jays need at least a number three starter. Then some BP help. Those two things need to be addressed.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Hatch pitched again in Buffalo finally. 2 innings, 1 walk, 1 K no hits, no runs. Biggio also played for the Bisons today, 1 for 4 with a homer. Also, Smith went 2 for 4 with a walk and Adams 1 for 3 with a walk as both guys continue to stay fairly hot after slow starts. Smith with an .883 OPS and Adam's rocking a 1.010 OPS.

I would like to think so but... The only thing is this is only for one or two playoff rounds and teams can isolate and test Jays have to play over 100 more games and would have to go back and forth between the US and Canada repeatedly

Malta says hello!!! j/k Claim didn't make sense to me on first blush, but I guess if you are talking about 1st doses only sure. Not that I think it necessarily a bad strategy in a case of limited supply, but we aren't doing so hot in terms of both dose rate.

The only thing is this is only for one or two playoff rounds and teams can isolate and test Jays have to play over 100 more games and would have to go back and forth between the US and Canada repeatedly It can work with baseball, the team goes to Toronto and gets tested each day and isolates, it is only for a few days. It is not like each team would be in a bubble for months

Interesting idea. Pearson and Murphy could be a couple of black aces if they lay low and get their s*** together.

It was in several news articles over the last couple of days. Vaccine supply is no longer a concern in most first world countries. Vaccinating enough people to make it effective seems to be the biggest concern now and we're doing quite well. The reasons for not having baseball in Canada are dying pretty quickly.

No reason not to if the fatality rate from the virus remains low in U.S. and Canada. Case counts may become deceiving if vaccines reduce fatalities a huge amount.

Some places are not even reporting case counts anymore, I know Florida stopped, Speaking of Florida, only 5,000 fans there when the Phillies played last week, that is a disgrace, should Move to Montreal or anywhere else
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 BlueJays.com e-mail: - The Toronto Blue Jays today announce that Sahlen Field capacity will increase to 80% for games beginning June 24 through July 21. Additional fully vaccinated seating sections will be opened in the 100L bowl for these games, while the 200L will remain as physically distanced seating pods. We want to thank our fans for everything they have done to combat COVID-19 in our communities. Blue Jays fans should continue to follow the latest local public health guidelines, including non-essential travel outside of Canada; through these efforts, we can hope for the day we reunite at Rogers Centre.
