Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Anyone get the feeling Shatkins read stromans tweet and said to themselves "i will show this little f***".
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Grichuk is also a guy I'd be comfortable to have starting when injuries happen in the OF. No more having to rely on waiver quality injury fill-ins. Exactly. At least he can play a passable CF.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Even if LG isn’t an IF, he’s still there for depth for either Bo or Biggio. So that’s good to have and not some AAAA player that shouldn’t be there
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Lineup porn: 2B - Biggio CF - Springer SS - Bichette RF - Brantley 1B - Guerrero Jr. DH - Hernandez LF - Gurriel 3B - ??? C - Kirk/Jansen Grichuk/McGuire/Tellez/Espinal That lineup is f***ing insane.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 We thinking something in the 3/40 range for Brantley?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Anyone get the feeling Shatkins read stromans tweet and said to themselves "i will show this little f***". I hope so... TBH
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 With all our cheap young guys it makes sense. What's our other option, trade Grichuk and pay half his salary? Then sign a worse OF for a bench guy? Smarter to just keep Grichuk. RG can play all 3 OF positions...not sure if that could be said of Teoscar while LGJ probably could play both corners. With Brantley probably DHing with limited playing in the field I suspect Teoscar may bring back the greatest returns in a trade. Maybe grab second baseman Wang to play second and shift Biggio to third. Biggio can supply OF depth as well.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I really can't stress how impressive it is that the roster is so good, while at the same time the team has a loaded farm and has only one long-term contract that could even potentially become a problem. Mark Shapiro's vision for this team has been carried out successfully, and they're going to be good for a very long time.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Exactly. At least he can play a passable CF. If we're competing this year we don't want to have a guy like Derrik Fisher being the one who needs to step in if an injury happens.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 We thinking something in the 3/40 range for Brantley? I would have to think so. It would be great if it came in a little less, but that's where I would peg it.

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 We thinking something in the 3/40 range for Brantley? I'm having trouble guessing. Two years ago he only got 2/$32. The same AAV would be 3/$48 which seems steeeeep. He has been just as good if not better in the last two years than the prior few seasons, though.

Norman Verified Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 All these signings are good but still need more starting pitching.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 If the Jays are playing in Buffalo, this team is going to be circling the bases a fair bit. Curious as to how pitching will be addressed. After Bauer, the remaining FA pitchers do not inspire confidence. But then again, with this lineup, a durable innings eater like Porcello can win 15 games.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Who would of thought Jared Porter's penis would help tip the dominoes in our favour? There's a tip of the penis joke in there somewhere.

The Iceman Verified Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 This With Vlad at 3rd and Tellez at 1st. Hold the fort down until Martin or Groshans are ready to play 3rd? I mean that wouldn't be my first option, but it may be something they are considering. That wouldn't be my 10th option. PLEASE EVERYONE repeat after me. VLAD CAN'T BE A 3RD BASEMAN ON A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. NO WAY NO HOW. Lourdes to the infield and Teletubby Rowdy to the bench if this is not addressed. BUT it will be.

How sad is that.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Via trade Maybe, maybe not. Nothing wrong with going into the season with a stacked lineup, and a bundle of 4.60 FIP pitchers of the Porcello ilk.

Nothing wrong with going into the season with a stacked lineup, and a bundle of 4.60 FIP pitchers of the Porcello ilk. All good until the playoffs then you're facing a Cole, Sherzer, Strasburg, deGrom, Bieber, Snell, Buehler, Kershaw, etc. almost every game. It's awfully nice to have a heavy 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation in the post season so you have a chance to win a low scoring game...
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 So who we getting next? Trade for Sonny Gray/Luis Castillo?
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 What did the little guy have to say? Someone post the tweet I’m blocked Basically said that Shatkins would never build a competitive team around Bo/Vlad/Biggio.

Got it. haha I thought he only had 2 years of control left but I guess he has 2 plus an option and the contract is reasonable. OK more than fine.
