Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Not gonna lie... im not high on Biggio as most of the people here. Feels like people here have him rated as the 2nd best young player after Bo. He can play all over the field at an average to below average rate. 2B is the only spot he has a chance to be above average imo. Love the IQ though. Because he HAS been the 2nd best player of the young players(the entire offense actually), and is projected to be a 3.1 fWAR player only behind, Bo/Springer and Vladito, him having average defense versatility only brings his value up, not to mention his base running. C'mon man.

C'mon man. I think Gurriel will end up having a higher WAR this year. Ideally, Biggio would serve better as the ninth hitter in a stacked line up. The line up as of now could easily look like.. Bichette Springer Gurriel Vladdy Teoscar Tellez Kirk (DH/C) Jansen Biggio I like the prospects that Bo will cause more damage to the added fastballs that the lead off hitter will see with Springer batting second. It's also nice to have a high OBP guy hitting ninth who's also a great base runner setting up the top of the line up. Having Bo sitting on deck doesn't hurt either. I'm not saying this should be done, but something to look at. If Brantley was signed, it would be a no brainer imo.

Sorry about the wife, she's likely a ****. Unless you're the shady one? Hmm...

I believe Springer leads off for the Jays, he's lead-off like 80% of his career.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 You could be right Spank, but if it were up to me I'd bat him 2 or 3. For all we know he might have a strong preference for lead-off. Cavan is just such a good fit for lead-off. Amazing OBP and a good / smart baserunner.

I believe the Jays will, I'd rather have Biggio lead off, brosoff. Just whipped this up going by the BOOK... 1 - Biggio 2 - Bichette 3 - Gurriel 4 - Springer 5 - Guerrero 6 - Hernandez 7 through 9 doesn't really matter, anything is suffice.

C'mon man. My point wasn't that he has been the 2nd best player up to this point but that he would be the 2nd best player going forward. Bo, Gurriel and Vlad are all ahead for me. I think it's really close between him and Teo or even Kirk going forward too. Still love Biggio so don't get me wrong but just not as much as people here.

I wouldn't want to take Bo out of the number 2 spot personally.

I wouldn't want to take Bo out of the number 2 spot personally. Bo needs to clean up his hacking tendencies a bit if he's to continue in the number 2 spot. Kevin Pillar displayed more discipline and a better K/BB split than Bo in 2020, hopefully that's just a shortened season blip from a young player that was a little anxious at the plate.

And I explained to you why people think he's been number 2 up to this point, we really don't know going forward other than projection models. They have him ranked 4th going into this season, there's always going to be regression to those projections, but they're the best we got.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 I want him in the worst way lol. Would cap off our lineup beautifully and would be a nice transition piece to Groshans or Martin.

I want to trade for Bryant and Kyle Hendricks SO BAD Ooooooo that 2.0/1.6/0.9 walks per 9 innings over the last 3 years...

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Biggio Springer Bichette Gurriel Hernandez Vlad Jr. Tellez Grichuk Jansen Would be my expectation assuming they actually let Vlad play third. Which I hope they don’t but yea... I just don’t know how you take Biggio’s OBP out of the leadoff spot. If Springer really wants to hit lead off you obviously swap them though. Man it would have been nice to have Brantley in that lineup. Hopefully another lefty bat is on the way. Way to right handed heavy
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Sweet!!!! Credit to source Sammy25 I can confirm that the Cubs have been in contact with some teams and that the cubs will likely make a decision in the next 2 months about whether that are going to trade him or not.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Biggio Springer Bichette Bryant Gurriel Hernandez Vlad Grichuk Jansen/Kirk Looks good to me/ Take out Grichuk and replace him with Tellez.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Tellez and Grichuk can platoon with Lefties/righties as things stand. That's exactly right I think Tellez becomes pretty important as quality left hand bat given the rest of our lineup now
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Take out Grichuk and replace him with Tellez. I’m not the biggest fan of Grichuk but his Defense needs to be in RF every day. The Blue Jays finally have a chance to field a good Outfield defense for the first time in forever.

Teo is not a good defender and would rather see him as dh more often then not. Other then his arm he looks lost out there at times.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Author Posted January 21, 2021 I wouldn't be surprised if Tellez hit lefties better than Grichuk lol. The way Tellez hit last year (short sample size), he deserved to play every day. But I believe this team is so "analytics" driven that it'll take so much for him to even get that chance.

Projects as a solidly above average and we know there is potential for him to be much better than he projects. I'm not saying he should have endless rope, but we need to plan him getting consistent AB's at the start of the season.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
