How much will Freddie Freeman get in free agency? It's been awhile since a truly top notch 1B has become a free agent.

I was just coming to post, that it sure looks like he's made the adjustment. I don't think people thought he was washed up though. One bad year in a shortened season, doesn't justify washed up, also having video back helps, he said that hurt him.

JD admitted he didn't come prepared to compete in 2020. He said after being sent home from Spring Training, he really slacked off, didn't train or hit and paid for it dearly once the season started. The guy is a beast - fully expect him to be his typical self this year.

He’ll be 32 next season. 6/180 seems to be in the ballpark?

Biggest contract for a 1B since Pujols and Miggy (who may have still been a pretend 3B when he signed it)

Rizzo's also a FA. Also will be 32, although he's probably a slight step down from Freddie. Similar hitters/players though really. Both have been the heart & soul leaders on their teams. It will be interesting to see how that plays out - will they re-sign, or not. Will teams give out big contracts to one dimensional 1st basemen?

Wow it's hard to imagine Rizzo leaving the Cubs but you never know

And they haven't really committed to a direction yet since Theo left

Two weeks into the season and Mike Trout's ROS projections have improved from his preseason projections. His ROS WAR projections outpace anyone else's preseason projections by about 1 win. Mike Trout has already accrued 1.1 fWAR. Mike Trout isn't human.

If there was a mould of a baseball player, he'd be the guy to clone.

Glasnow's at 1.3 WAR after 3 starts. In 2019, the Jays only had 3 pitchers finish the year with more WAR then that over a full season.

Risky signings with bad results

Who's next? Kluber? Taillon? Both? Hello?

No. Yankees are too lucky. And they let their ticking time bomb walk this off season.

The difference with Kluber at least was reports said like every team offered a similar contract. With the other guys, just a few teams were seemingly in the mix for the gamble.

Paxton especially, everyone passing on $8m is pretty revealing

It must be nice following a team like this. 6 starters with a wRC+ over 180 to start the year and Cody Bellinger isn't one of them.

Not to mention their rotation of between 3 and 5 aces.

And they'll probably be knocked out by a vastly inferior team in the playoffs. Beauty of baseball I guess.

MLB is testing new rules.

#1 - move the mound back a foot. Nobody likes seeing so many strikeouts.

#2 - double hook DH. Once you pull your starting pitcher, you lose your DH. Too many pitching changes during a game.

Apparently a 93.9 MPH fastball at 61 feet is equivalent to a 91.6 MPH fastball at 60 feet.
