He isn't, way too young to write him off.

Yeah, I still have a really good outlook for him. He was 18 pitching good at Lansing in 2019. At 20 he has been pushed back due to pandemic and TJS, but he was on pace to make the majors between 20-22 imo. Pushing that back and its a normal 22-24. Assuming he comes back healthy his command has always been lights out. Biggiest hurdle is getting back on the field consistently and staying healthy. Then see how his stuff is playing and go from there

But that's just it. The health is a real serious question mark. Can't gloss over that. No idea whether it's impacted his stuff. No...we shouldn't write him off, but being very concerned is completely justified.

So any SP who needs TJ just write them off until they are back 100% for 3 or 4 years?

There is a difference between being concerned a SP won't achieve their potential due to injury concerns and writing off a 20 year old who has shown potential at a very young age/level

He came back, pitched 3 innings, and was shut down the rest of the year with elbow trouble.

No one is writing him off, but its looking rather dim. Many, many pitching prospects flame out with a dead arm.

Most TJ recoveries are pretty smooth nowadays. His has not been. This should definitely be a concern.

Not surprised by Pardinho, I think he's done. Too bad, I was hoping he would morph into a late inning RP

You said, "I think he's done". That's basically writing him off imo. We don't know much about him or his arm, so im going to assume it's going to be fine eventually

Reports are circulating stating Correa and his agent’s contract expectations are “nothing less than Lindors 340 million”

Realistic expectation or just lip service?

I’m glad Jays aren’t part of any of those deals.

I don't know what team would do that

Nothing wrong with asking. There's an idiot born every minute.

I think he'll get it from the Tigers based on rumors of their interest in him. They apparently want to make a big splash this winter.

Rangers have said they're willing to add $100m to their payroll.

New York Yankees

@Yankees

The New York Yankees today announced that they have traded INF/OF Tyler Wade to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, and Jimmy Rollins are among the first-time eligible players on the 2022 Baseball Hall of Fame ballot.

The other first-time eligible players include Carl Crawford, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Tim Lincecum, Justin Morneau, Joe Nathan, Jonathan Papelbon, Jake Peavy, A.J. Pierzynski, and Mark Teixeira. Ortiz is most likely among this group to actually get in on the first ballot. With the holdovers, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Curt Schilling are all eligible for the 10th and final time while Scott Rolen and Billy Wagner will hope to pick up some momentum. Hall of Fame ballots from BBWAA writers are due Dec. 31 with an announcement to follow on Jan. 25.

This is going to be a pretty interesting year for the HOF voting. Last year for Barry, Roger and Curt - Rolen and Wagner are inching closer and how you add in a slew of solid new candidates. Curious to see what voters do with Papi and A-Rod.

If anyone puts Papi on the ballot and not A-Rod or Bonds, they should have their voting privileges removed...and possibly be killed as well.

If a voter puts Ortiz in but comments that ARod failed drug tests but Ortiz and Bonds never did then I give up on the legitimacy of HOF voting.

Some idiot in the NL MVP voting voted for LaMonte Wade Jr.

The idiocy isnt just limited to voting for the hall... it's just more widespread there.

Angels Sign Aaron Loup

By Anthony Franco | November 22, 2021 at 4:39pm CDT

The Angels announced they’ve signed reliever Aaron Loup to a two-year contract. It’s a $17MM guarantee, the team announced. He’ll receive successive $7.5MM salaries in 2022 and 2023, and the deal also contains a $7.5MM club option for 2024 that comes with a $2MM buyout. Loup is a client of the Beverley Hills Sports Council.

It’s a strong deal for Loup, who’s handsomely rewarded for a brilliant 2021 campaign. A longtime member of the Blue Jays’ bullpen early in his career, he’d seemingly settled in as a competent journeyman as he entered his 30’s. Loup split the 2018 season between Toronto and the Phillies, then spent the next three years playing on either minor league or one-year big league deals with different clubs.

I don't think I would have bet that much on Loup's 55 innings last year repeating itself.

Good for him. Loupy figured out his strength and plays to it beautifully now

I’d give that to Matz, so not a bad deal

Really feels like this is the kind of pitcher that gets dog-f***ed in their salary. 3 Win pitchers are decidedly worth more than 12 per year. Sure, you wouldn't pay them 20... but 12?

Giants Nearing Deal With Alex Wood

By Anthony Franco | November 22, 2021 at 5:22pm CDT

5:22 pm: The sides are discussing a two-year deal that would pay Wood more than $10MM annually, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN (on Twitter).

5:15 pm: The Giants are closing in on an agreement with free agent southpaw Alex Wood, reports Robert Murray of FanSided (Twitter link). Should a deal come to fruition, he’d join 2021 rotation mate Anthony DeSclafani in returning to San Francisco, and the club was also linked to Alex Cobb this morning.

Wood signed with San Francisco for a $3MM guarantee last offseason and more than made good on the club’s fairly small investment. The left-hander worked to a 3.83 ERA across 138 2/3 innings and 26 starts, taking on his heaviest workload since 2018.
