keggy Verified Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Chuckles only sacrificed 10 times this year I think. One of the lower totals. Gibby was in the 25 range 2015 and 16 I think. Chuckles has been OK with the relievers since he got better relievers though I heard last night he did something stupid. Gibby used Latroy Hawkins a few times in close games in 2015. If Latroy had shown his age (he did not) Gibby would have been roasted. Gibby played Dionor Navara at first base because he felt bad they signed Russ Martin. He played Eziquiel Cabrera over Smoak at times... which in retrospect was horrible. This stuff happens. Doubt Gibby is a ridiculous improvement over chuckles. You guys are really nailing Gibby without full context. He was literally evaluating core pieces of team at the major league level that year. Remember when Pillar started out in LF because we didn't know he was a good fielder yet? Miguel Castro was our closer out of A ball. Smoak was still considered a failed prospect at the time. We were still giving major innings to the corpse of Jeff Francis and Bo Schulz. Once Anthopoulos traded for a decent bullpen, Gibby really managed the team well.

Ya, i liked Gibby and would much prefer him to Bongo Boy, but he has become a revisionist managing deity to some. I don't share that feeling or view of him.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Buxton good chance at 4 WAR in 60 games. Two doubles tonight gets him very close to the 4 WAR.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Interview with Jayce Tingler today. Sounds like he already knows he's going to be fired this off season.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Oneil Cruz debuted for the Pirates yesterday, hit a 118 mph single for his first MLB hit. Saw him in ST last year against the Jays, dude is already a powerhouse and looks like he could easily add 20 pounds of muscle. He is going to be scary good.

Nobody easily adds 20 pounds of muscle without roids
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Kershaw may be toast So glad he was part of winning a WS last year
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Nobody easily adds 20 pounds of muscle without roids I didn’t say it would be done overnight. He’s 6’7 and currently 210 pounds. There’s room to add. Plus, he hits left and will playing 3b.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Mets fired Rojas Zero surprise

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 Oneil Cruz ain't nobody He's Aaron Judge minus 70 pounds. I hope he sticks around for a long time because he makes baseballs cry.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 I hate that they have an afternoon game for the playoffs. It is like they don't want max viewership. Thursday, Oct. 7 • White Sox v. Astros, Game 1 (FS1, 4 p.m. ET) • Winner of AL WC Game v. Rays, Game 1 (FS1, 8 p.m. ET) Friday, Oct. 8 • White Sox v. Astros, Game 2 (MLBN, 2 p.m. ET) • Braves v. Brewers, Game 1 (TBS, 4:30 p.m. ET) • Winner of AL WC Game v. Rays, Game 2 (FS1, 7 p.m. ET) • Winner of NL WC Game v. Giants, Game 1 (TBS, 9:30 p.m. ET) Saturday, Oct. 9 • Braves v. Brewers, Game 2 (TBS, 5 p.m. ET) • Winner of NL WC Game v. Giants, Game 2 (TBS, 9 p.m. ET) Sunday, Oct. 10 • Rays v. Winner of AL WC Game, Game 3 (MLBN, 4 p.m. ET) • Astros v. How does it make sense to have 2 playoff games on at the same time when they can stagger them? Its always been like this. I don’t think they’d get more viewers by having the games be at like 7pm and 8pm for example. They obviously know its better for them to do 4pm and 8pm

What are you thinking? Why can't chisox/astros game 2 be on Saturday at 2pm? Or do people not work in your world? What about Astros/chisox fans in school? Does mlb want to grow the game with younger viewers? The only people watching tv at 2pm eastern on a weekday are lonely housewives watching soap operas.
