and he pretty much HAS to use his player option at this point. Unless they can void the contract somehow

What happened to Chris Paddack?

Aren’t you supposed to be looking at FIP and K/BB

What about Conforto, Bellinger, and Gleybar. I have all of those pieces of s*** in my 2 redrafts and what are you even supposed to do with them?

Feels like every time I check the boxscores the Dodgers have scored 7 runs and Bellinger is 0-3 with a walk.

Because that's how these woke-pariahs operate. Crappy "lawyer" (who apparently barely understands the legal system) turned s***** sports writer (how? why?) who's only quality is to turn to his/her victim-group status as a means of currency. You see, him/her is always right and shouldn't be questioned because him/her is trans, don't you understand that? And if you disagree with his/her idiotic takes, its obviously because you're a tRaNSpHoBe.

Sherly Ring isn't qualified to report on his/her local junior-college baseball team, let alone the MLB. But of course, everyone has to go along and pretend to give a s*** what this emotionally unstable and deranged individual has to say.

This is the most factual post BJMB has ever seen

I'm trans and I can't stand Sheryl Ring's writings. They're full of a world view that one is helpless to all circumstance

That being said proper pronouns are appreciated, using him/her or such is pretty hateful

Cool Nexii, I love that you called her out as an empty outlook. She's toxic. Glad you added this to the forum.

He seems broken.

Bellinger or Moncada in dynasty?

Now, Moncada

Long term, Bellinger

let the other people answer, jim

Deleted two posts that had nothing to do with baseball, per the Board Rules.

Leaving Nexii's post as the final word. It also has little/nothing to do with baseball but makes an important point. Regardless of your personal opinion on trans stuff, or your personal opinion on someone as deplorable and consistently wrong as Sheryl Ring, intentionally misgendering a trans person is a violation of our board rules, particularly rule #2, "No discriminatory comments or slurs".

If calling Sheryl Ring she/her is insufferable to you but you MUST talk about her, just don't use pronouns or use gender neutral pronouns.

This is the official BJMB stance on this topic.

Look back before this half season, bro

I understand the slight preference for Bellinger based on demonstrated upside but both are young guys packed with tools, former elite prospects, who have performed at a high level. And one looks broken now while the other is turning into a pretty solid hitter. I don't see a big gap.

I'm trying to think of hitters who put up MVP-caliber seasons at a young age and then saw dramatic declines in performance before 30 without having career-altering injury issues. Nobody is really coming to mind, but I might just be missing obvious examples.

I still think Bellinger is going to end up as a well above-average hitter with good counting stats because of the lineup, but he is a complete mess right now.

Heyward put up 4 seasons > 4 WAR, including one 5.3 WAR, before turning mediocre at age 26. Not quite to Bellinger level

The difference is that Heyward's value was built primarily on elite defense which declines early.

Maybe issues with Bellinger's shoulder? He might be broken. Bellinger has dislocated the shoulder several times diving for ground balls and re-injured it celebrating a home run in the playoffs last year.

He was only really MVP-caliber 1 out of the past 4 years. True talent could maybe be only above-average.

It’s not like he’s Semien or something. He’s only been in the league 4 years. Well over .900 OPS as 21yo rookie and MVP type season at 23

.789 OPS at 25 and .613 OPS at 26

Holy s*** this is the final straw. Bauer is done

Try to contain your orgasm while posting this stuff.

Talented athletes in their prime will always find their way to the field. I think Aaron Hernandez would’ve been a good case to see how far that went if he was found not guilty (first trial).

Has a star player who didn't see prison time ever lost an MLB career because of something like this? If Bauer ends up going to jail I don't think he'll play again, but based on what's been made public, it's hard to see him going to jail.

It's really hard to look at historical precedent in this situation though, it's not the same world it was even 10 years ago when it comes to stuff like this. In my opinion, no action should be taken until allegations are proven, but in 2021 this is a marketing decision above all else, and his brand may be simply too toxic for any team to take the hit, regardless of the return.

I keep seeing people say things like "if he's guilty" or "if allegations are proven" and I'm not really sure what kind of binary revelation people are expecting. This is never not going to be a shade of grey, unless there's a lot of evidence that we haven't yet seen.

Nah it would change things. Right now he has just been accused by a private individual. For all we know the accusations are frivolous and without merit. But if the State actually thinks there is a reasonable chance that he could be convicted of a crime based on the evidence then I think that alone changes things. And if he ends up being convicted of a crime that of course changes everything. The spectrum would read something like:

- Accused by private individual but nothing happens = the lightest shade of grey; he probably should face no repercussions professionally

- Accused by private individual and faces a civil action but successfully defends the lawsuit OR nothing is proven = light grey

- Accused by private individual and faces a civil action and loses in some respect = darker grey

- Accused and the State charges him criminally but he is not convicted = dark, dark grey because the state saw evidence they could reasonably convict him of a crime

- Accused and the State charges him criminally and he is convicted = almost black; his MLB career should be over

It will always be a shade of grey but there can be very different shades of grey.

The three middle roads would be followed by something like "MLB and MLB teams should feel free to conduct their own analysis of the facts to determine whether or not they want to offer him employment"
