Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Wow what a horrid call by these umps. Absolute joke
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Conforto clearly leaned into that one. No idea why they didn't reverse that.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Wow what a horrid call by these umps. Absolute joke I've never seen anything like this. Conforto stuck his elbow in the strike zone.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Holy f***. Marlins got absolutely screwed
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Conforto gonna get beaned tomorrow for real.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 For everyone not watching, this was a bases loaded walkoff HBP with two strikes:
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Conforto's not going to need to lean in to get hit by a pitch the next time they play. Even the Mets announcers didn't want to defend that.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Imagine hitting 3rd for a major league team and having so little confidence in your ability to hit a fly ball off Anthony Bass that you're sticking your elbow in the strike zone to try to steal a HBP.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 That ump in the mets game is an idiot. If its a strike, which he clearly he thought it was, then you gotta ask yourself how is this guy getting hit by a pitch on a strike? And the easy answer is the guy put his arm in the strike zone.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 It's obviously very early in the season but stuff wise and early results tell me I'm in the clear making this statement. Corbin Burnes appears to be a legitimate front of the rotation stud. He's got some outrageous stuff.

The Brewers keep taking well-regarded pitching prospects who didn't profile as aces and turning them into elite pitchers. First Hader, then Woodruff, and Burnes.

King Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Tommy John for Paxton. Who could have possibly seen this coming
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Tommy John for Paxton. Who could have possibly seen this coming He might be completely cooked. He'll be almost 34 trying to come back from this. I don't like his odds of ever putting up a healthy and productive season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Tommy John for Paxton. Who could have possibly seen this coming Lol glad we dodged that bullet. Feel bad for the guy but some of us could see this coming a mile away. SOME of us
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Tommy John for Paxton. Who could have possibly seen this coming Everyone that wasn't too busy sucking his dick hoping we'd sign him
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 That’s just a very expanded strikezone but other umps occasionally make a bad call like this. Pretty sure I saw him call Ball on a FB center-center right down the middle, takes a really special eye to do that.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Man the Marlins got screwed. Who was the ump that blew the HBP call?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Man the Marlins got screwed. Who was the ump that blew the HBP call? I also don't understand how they reviewed the play and still came to the same conclusion. I'm guessing they might not have been able to review that because I can't understand anything so obvious being missed.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Man the Marlins got screwed. Who was the ump that blew the HBP call? Kulpa. Sounds like he admitted after the game that he blew the call.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 (edited) Why are there so many teams off on a Friday??? I have never ever seen an off day for Teams on a Friday.. This year, I thought the opening on a Thursday, off day on a Friday and resume the series on a Saturday was the stupidest thing ever. Now a Friday in the regular season with an off day for multiple teams. MLB really has to be the stupidest league by far...Between this and other recent decisions, the way they handle social media etc... Edited April 9, 2021 by Carlos Danger

I'm pretty sure it's for team's Home Opening series in case of rain.

That happens almost every season... its in case the opener gets cancelled due to rain. And without looking, I bet all the teams off today just had their home openers (Jays don’t need the off day because they normally play at the dome). Every year they normally have several off days in April. You new to the sport?

Every year they normally have several off days in April. You new to the sport? I honestly don't remember two weeks in a row like this. It still doesn't make sense to lose a key Friday night and that demo. Schedule a four game series and the off day on Monday if need be. If it rains, game 2 becomes 1 and game 4 gets played on a Monday. Or Have opening day on a Wednesday the Thursday is a the "rain" day and you have your league playing baseball on a Friday night when kids actually can stay up to watch it, adults can finally sit down an watch it, so you don't lose that key weekend night to an NBA or NHL game etc.. Missing two Fridays in a row to get your season kicked off, or basically starting, stopping, starting stopping is not logical to me from a business/commercial/fan perspective. By the way, how is your boy Roark and your WHAT,!!!?? The Jays signed him to a two year $24 million dollar contract, he CAN"T suck, how dare you say he will be a bomb! I must have been new to baseball....
