Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Where's Jake McGee at nowadays, guy just disappeared. Dave Roberts sux. He's in one of my DFS lineups. My bad.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Holy crap this inning is epic
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Great game... that catch by Bellinger was a series changer.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Hosmer swung for a ball, changed the whole AB and probably the game, maybe the series. After the pitcher walks the first two guys he sees, you have to make sure you don't swing for a ball... I was rooting for SD
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Kenley has been absolute trash this year

He got two balls after that but he was protecting the plate. The catch by Bellinger was great, but the ball was hit to the deepest part of the park. Bad luck for the Padres tonight..I thought they deserved this one.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I love Machado whining about Graterol's antics. Like after Tatis' absurd display, SD has nothing to complain about.

Literally Machado hit a homer, tossed his bat and was screaming after hitting his homerun off Kershaw. I’m pretty sure Graterol was trying to mimic him/give it right back. And of course Machado can’t take it so he tries to act like a victim.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Must suck to think your team is going into a 5 game series with Lamet, Clevinger, Paddock, Davies as your starters and now you have a rookie starting game 3 with your playoff lives on the line...

Padres got f***ed. If Clevinger needs TJS that could go down as one of the all time damaged goods trades, particularly if any of Naylor/Quantrill/Arias/Cantillo turn into a stud. Seems weird that he would pass the medical parts of the trade.

Seems weird that he would pass the medical parts of the trade. This is an article from FEB 2020 I personally was dubious about the Padres acquisition of Clevinger for the cost, due to his injury history. I would have targeted Plesac if you are going to go in for a penny, go in for a pound. I agree with you.. You have to wonder the risk assessment the Padres did... https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2020/2/17/21139806/mlb-mike-clevinger-mark-prior-cleveland-american-league From 2017-2019 Clevinger has been worth 10.0 bWAR. That’s a little startling because for a guy who has shown he is an ace level starter that’s a pretty low number. In Clevinger’s case, the phrase that is carrying a lot of weight is “on the field.” Over his three most recent seasons Clevinger appeared in 80 games and averaged 26 appearances a season. He missed significant time in 2019 due to a back injury and it was announced on Friday that he will miss time in 2020 due to a torn left meniscus. It’s hard to be an ace when injuries keep you off the field.

What has Tatis done that was absurd? Be extremely exciting and show some emotion which the fans love? Tatis up to now has shown he can dish it and take it. Machado on the other hand tossed his bat after hitting a solo HR off Kershaw which only made it a 2-run game and then he can't handle the pitcher showing some emotion following an all-time catch? Lol f*** off bud.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Clevinger is about to be 30 and has 120 innings of elite pitching on his resume. Has to be one of the most overrated pitchers around. If you owned him in say a 20 team dynasty league would you trade him for say Gio Urshela?
Ray Verified Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Sixto Sanchez is a beast. That trade has definitely become lopsided for the Marlins. Phillies failed to make the playoffs both years they had Realmuto, and he might very well leave them in feee agency.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Lol that was a pretty brutal outcome for the Barves

Tatis is the best thing to happen to baseball in 2020. Nothing he did was absurd. Machado's hypocrisy on the other hand is definitely funny. I'm fine with Manny, but he needs to take it if he dishes it out.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 d'Arnaud's been great.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Marlins are gonna be packing tonight

Realmuto's a star, that trade looks more like a wash. If the Phillies don't re-sign JT, Bryce will be asking for a trade I suspect.

Phillies failed to make the playoffs both years they had Realmuto, and he might very well leave them in feee agency. I wouldn't necessarily call it lopsided, just a failure everywhere else to capitalize on the asset. Realmuto was exactly who the Phillies thought they were trading for, if not better. He gave them 7.4 fWAR in 192 games which is elite level performance, had they made the playoffs he would have been a large reason why. But my point is trading for 2 years of elite performance - at catcher mind you - for a pitching prospect is something every single team in the Phillies' position (playoff aspirations/high on the win curve) would do 10 times out of 10. Of course, they squandered his performance and now he might leave them, so the Marlins are laughing that they got a high potential starter with monster stuff and Alfaro who might not be garbage and still has several years of control for a guy who was definitely not sticking around.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 Diego's dead in an inning.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 6-2 in the 3rd... yikes!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 They should've had the NLCS start today, they've had plenty of rest, stupid.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 They should've had the NLCS start today, they've had plenty of rest, stupid. It was already scheduled before the playoffs started... if either series would’ve gone to a game 5 it would have been played tonight. Can’t just decide to start the NLCS early, then if the Dodgers sweep they’d have like a week off until the World Series.

Easy peasy... anyhow, I was ranting because of no baseball tonight!
