Can't really say conditioning because Prince Fielder was massive and never had this issue early in his career.

Vlad just doesn't really seem to give a s***. He's enjoying being out there and that's the extent of it. He's clearly never had to face a challenge in his life. Which gives me hope that his lazy ass will wake up, get fit and start caring about his performance. Until last year, he obviously never even had to try. Let's hope he wakes up soon. I can't believe his dad isn't all over him to get in shape.

How was Ryu so good last year? He looks so very hittable and mediocre.

Elite command, elite CU, great CB

The 1st two aren't the same so far through 2 starts this season.

The problem with these low speed pitchers is that once the hitters know you got no fast ball they wait for your low stuff and do damage

Lol no, that might be fine if you're talking about your run-of-the-mill junkballers, but it's not the case when you're talking about elite pitchers like Ryu and Kyle Hendricks. Their slow stuff isn't for show, they're legitimately excellent pitches that tunnel very well with one another and keep hitters off-balance for entire games. Ryu's problem early on has been that his command of his pitches hasn't been to his usual standards, not that his stuff is falling flat and hitters are sitting on slow stuff. You can tell by the number of strikeouts he has and the soft contact he was inducing the first couple of innings that his stuff isn't the problem, but rather his location.

Wow wouldn't it be cool if one of these AAAA outfielders turned into an MLB regular?

I agree he is elite and I want him to be like last year but he can not throw his cutter and his fast ball is not over 90

I hope so, we have five of those.

His cutter has gotten swings and misses though? His fastball has averaged the same velocity as it has the last 5 seasons. Again it's a problem of location, not stuff, which is amplified by the long layoff and lack of proper competitive game action like Spring Training contests.

Anyone paying attention to the game on our bench? Looks like a party.

Yeah, hard to be a fan of Vlad when he's celebrating his subpar play. Doesnt help that he looks like a biggest loser contestant

Ryu getting knocked around by excellent hitters like Castro, Cabrera and Suzuki

Command just sucks. Once he gets it in-line with usual, he'll be fine.

More concerned with the ABs our hitters are putting together. Approaches look pretty awful.

I predict Vlad has 1K and 3 hard hit ground ball outs and the Jays win anyways thanks to a beautiful pitching performance by the best Korean pitcher on the Toronto Bluejays.

LETS f***ING GO BLUEJAYS.

Well...i got some of it right

Send him to Rochester to get in shape and change his launch angle. Hire his own personal trainer and nutritionist. If he wants to eat a lot fine. Just make sure it’s healthy.
