Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Man, we played 3 tough games in the Trop that were competitive all the way through and should have probably won all three. Sucks in a short season that this will be magnified but there were a lot of positive signs this series.

The main takeaway from this series is that we can look forward to a Giles-less bullpen blowing every game for the rest of the season. Imagine these scrubs facing the Yankees.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 That steal attempt was dumb too idc if they Houdini themselves into a safe call. Im tired of montoyo ball already
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 I havnt seen 1 person blame Biggio for the play at 1st. In reality he waited too long on that play. The pitcher got there late but he still beat the runner. The ball should have been in his glove already and runner was out. You dont throw the the ball after the pitcher reaches the bag. It was really just a bad (and kinda unlucky) play all around

Biggio and Bo have been bad in the field to start the year. Every throw from Biggio to first seems like an adventure
TheDragon Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 For some reason Giles was allowed to pitch when he was clearly injured the whole time... derp

It’s a very young team, there will be some growing pains.

Deire Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Yeah philly yur wrong but im not gonna argue other than its the 2nd basemans job to get the ball in the pitchers glove as hes going to the bag. If hes late getting there then its on the pitcher. He was there in time.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Don't forget about Grichuks injury. Disaster of a game, really.

The offense was alive, there was some really good starting pitching and we could’ve won all 3 games. Outcome was not ideal but it was a very entertaining series.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Baseball will be a better place the day this miserable excuse for a franchise in Tampa no longer exists.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 It was really just a bad (and kinda unlucky) play all around That play was Vlad's fault. It wasn't an unlucky or unusual play at all. It was a ground ball to the left side by the left handed hitter. It's what you expect. You're playing in the shift. Vladdy has the line. He should have never went after that.
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 still absurd that Giles was left in there like that when he was clearly in discomfort
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Baseball will be a better place the day this miserable excuse for a franchise in Tampa no longer exists. Dude you called for Moran to get more high leverage innings. Maybe just take the rest of the day off?

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Funny how all of us could tell (including Buck and Dan) from our couches that Giles was hurt, but Montoyo is standing right there and seems clueless He could justifiably be fired right now for negligence alone. Managers job to put his players in best position to succeed and protect them. Absolutely embarrassing and everyone saw it coming.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 We probably should have just made Vlad a DH.
Acemeister79 Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Crushing loss - and yesterday could well be the last day of the season that the Jays are at .500. Bad managing trumps all the potential talent in the world.

TheDragon Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 50% chance to make the playoffs, I'm not optimistic with this pen
Ex Player Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Well......at least we got ONE win in that motherf***ing shithole!!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Cito's 2 World Series rings suggest otherwise... Elevating Vlad's launch angle by 3 or 4 degrees would result in probably 15 more wins between 2021 and 2024, firing Montoya and getting the best manager in baseball would result in 2 maybe. OK. I don't know if that is true. However the 92/93 teams and 2015/2016 were built around 4++ WAR players. Developing Vlad/Bo/Bichette/Martin/Guerriel/Pearson etc. is the only thing I care about. If they can develop the young players the coaching staff should stay.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Well, not to brag, but I've got three ladies in bikinis in my pool, so I'm outta here... (Don't worry, it's not nearly as exciting as it sounds )
