Wonder if we see 2 first basemen winning the MVPs this year? Seems like the most likely outcome. When was the last time that happened?

So Brewers make the playoffs with a 29-31 record. Gross

Grossest of all is the Marlins getting in with a -41 run differential. Only the Rox and the Bucs in the NL had a worse differential.

Personally, the AL MVP is in Cleveland. Whether that's Jose Ramirez or Shane Bieber I have no real answer to it and would not object to either. Not saying Abreu isn't an excellent candidate, but I don't think he quite lapped the field like Freddie Freeman did.

Freeman will be the 3rd Canadian 1B to win a MVP. Vlad Jr the fourth???

Freeman is so f***ing good. If Vlad comes close to his talent that will be enough for me...

Red Sox fire Ron Roenicke

Angels fire Billy Eppler

Billy was a no brainer, they've been actively searching for a GM for weeks, Roenicke's just an escape goat, when Sale and Ed-Rod went down they were finished.

Worst pitching in the history of baseball can't be blamed on Roenicke. He was never going to last more than one year. Do you think they bring back Cora? It would be an incredibly scummy move, but I could see it.

I don't know, if they think he's best for the job, I certainly could see it. He did win a WS with them.

Rumor has been for awhile that they want to bring back Cora. Red Sox don't think he was more than a pliable participant in the sign-stealing scandal.

I'm sure that's how they'll play it, but MLB tabbed him as one of the main perpetrators in Houston and he admitted it.

He was also investigated as a part of the red sox sign stealing, which they were also punished for. Thia is a person who should not be in baseball. It's certainly worse than Pete Rose in my opinion.

Pete Rose did nothing wrong compared to what these guys did especially in Houston (no evidence he bet against his own team to lose, of which I am aware). That they continue to freeze him out of Cooperstown is a national disgrace! Speaking of which, apparently Votto just passed Rose for most walks in Reds franchise history (Rose was more of a hitter than a walker).

Joey and I went to the same High School...although several years after I graduated.

Pete Rose absolutely did something wrong, but the punishment does not fit the crime. And if a single player from either that Astros WS team or the Red Sox cheater team makes the HOF, it would be a complete travesty.

Seems a lot of hostility for the Red Sox in these parts, :D

Personally, I much more loath the Yankees (but I might be biased since I lived/worked in the Boston area for 3 years). But forever bleed BLUE!!!!!!

Correct, but the punishment is more a reflection of Rose's behaviour after the fact, if not more so. It was not until 2004 that Rose admitted he bet on baseball including the Reds.

If he had admitted to it when the accusations were first made, he likely is in the HOF.
