MLB players unanimously supporting Tatis. Won't post all the quotes, but list includes Eduardo Rodriguez, Howie Kendrick, Johnny Bench (!), Reggie Jackson, Amir Garrett, Colin McHugh, and probably a ton more that I haven't seen yet. I’m hoping Grichuk weighs in, just for my own amusement.

I guess if you want to look on the bright side, the Rangers are the laughing stock on Twitter today, and Tatis is getting a ton of shine. If Padres manager is smart he'll take back what he said last night and support Tatis when he's doing media sessions tonight.

That's the thing I was talking about earlier, Ripken's a dumbass.

The Rangers being salty pansies about this is one thing. The Padres' manager also getting upset about this is much more ridiculous. Your goal should be to win first and support your players and he did neither. Preller should've fired him on the spot immediately after that s***. Edited by Captain Adama

I don't recall Grichuk getting upset about something like this, but I don't use twitter. I have seen him weigh in on guys openly taunting their opponents.

You mean, Preller? He yelled at FTJ, lol.

Yeah, Preller/Tringler and Hoz, chucked him under the bus on live TV, ********.

Preller really supported the "unwritten rules" over his star player? What a joke. I guess it's not too surprising since he hired Tingler in the first place, and he wouldn't have hired someone like that without sharing those views. Man, Tatis needs to get the hell out of San Diego. Only four more years, Fernando.

And F Hosmer.

Yeah, he yelled at him after hitting the dinger, Tatis was still 20 feet or so from the dugout and he gave the old ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what did I do, and Tringer just stared at him like he was going to kill him, although he did bench him. Then Hoz grabbed him and gave him "The Talk" lol... clowns.

This whole Tatis thing is insane! Sounds like the players are a bunch of f***ing pussies with their fee-fees all hurty n' such.

The only unwritten rule that needs to be followed is "don't bunt to break up a no hitter", and that's mostly because bunting is stupid and should be banned in general.

You don't like sac bunts!?

MLB trying to actively market the young guys like Tatis, and then you have his own manager benching him and teammate upset with him for hitting a f***ing homerun.

Absolute disgrace and these guys need to be chucked out for the greater good of the sport.

The one I've commonly heard is don't steal a base late in the game with a huge lead. I guess I can understand that one, but now you can't swing either? Why not just have a mercy rule and end the game early then?

I'm so glad this BS is getting destroyed on Twitter. It's not even a MLB thing, it's two dimwit managers. Just saw that Tingler was part of the Rangers org prior to this season, which explains a lot. Stand up for your old employer rather than your superstar. He's not doing himself any favors there. The Rangers better not plunk Tatis for this.

I 100% agree. The team up has to keep playing hard. If the team down doesn't want to play anymore, f***ing forfeit and walk off the field.

I also agree on the SB thing. If it is a blow out, I wouldn't push it. But swinging hard on a 3-0? WTF?

The type of people that are against what Tatis Jr. did, like the Texas manager and the SD manager, needs to be purged out of baseball.

I think that’s the sad part here. MLB is actively trying to promote bat flips and other exciting plays. It’s their own players/management that is stunting their growth in this case.

Baseball culture needs to change.

Just found out and I think its important to note, Jayce Tingler was upset because he gave the sign to Tatis to take the next pitch and Tatis either missed the sign or disobeyed.

I agree that Tingler has a right to be mad about Tatis missing the sign, but the issue is why is he telling Tatis to take in the first place?

The Padres are just trying to get the cheapest arbitration rates on Tatis that they can. Now they have to pay for that useless home run and 4 RBI. Actively discouraging your players from padding stats during blowout games is the new market inefficiency. A team's ultimate goal is to get to 95 wins on -150 run differential and 30 combined team WAR.

How dare Wil Myers hit another grand slam off the Rangers. Doesn’t he know you’re not supposed to embarrass the home team? He should apologize immediately.

Padres up 4-0 in the 1st. Running up the score this early is embarrassing.

Not going to happen but I want to see Tatis just stand there and take all the pitches in any of his at bats.

Even if that's true, support your young star publicly. Talk to him in private about missing signs. It makes him look spineless and turns the fanbase, and possibly the player, on him. You 100% have to back Tatis up to the media.

Even then, he buried him for missing a sign, he so happened to rip it Oppo Taco for a GS! *smh*

Tingler's backpedalling I believe, and trying damage control.

Agreed 100%. Calling out your young franchise player for hitting a grand slam on a 3-0 count is inconceivable. Even if you gave him the take a pitch sign, you have to back him in front of the media. The fact that Tatis even had to apologize is even worse.
