P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Keith Law has joined The Athletic. Really glad I didn't renew my sub.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I feel bad for anyone who pays to read Keith Law. I'd feel ripped off reading that douche's content for free.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Keith Law has joined The Athletic. Really glad I didn't renew my sub. For me the Jays related content is well worth the cost. They recently added Nick Ashbourne who appears will add some nice analytical analysis. I'm no more of a fan of Keith Law as anyone else as he is a pretentious ******* who has a habit of making completely untrue statements, getting proven wrong, and then doubling down. Thankfully his articles aren't beamed directly to me eyes so I'm in no way forced to read his crap.
jerb Verified Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Reliever Steve Cishek and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $6 million deal, sources familiar with the agreement tell ESPN. The contract includes an option that could take the deal to a second year at $12 million total.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Much like Steroids, I wish every team could admit they do this and say they won't moving forward.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 It sounds like Toronto may have indicated to Shaw that he would be an everyday player. I don't think he will platoon from the start but it may end up that way. Ross Atkins likes his handedness
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 The Red Sox, much like the Astros, are dirty cheaters. Remember the man in white in center field AA wasnt a monster he was just ahead of the curve
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 If Cora is found to have been heavily involved in the cheating with the Astros in 2017 and Red Sox in 2018, I can’t see how they’d allow him to remain in the league.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Make the Red Sox sit out for the season. That would be amazing
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Give the Red Sox a hefty fine.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Make the Red Sox give the Jays their Top 3 prospects
Beans Verified Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Much like Steroids, I wish every team could admit they do this and say they won't moving forward. If only... Instead MLB wants to use technology to rid sign-stealing from the Earth. The commissioner's office is actually developing some sort of wearable device to encode pitcher-catcher communication. They're also thinking about using lights in the mound. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-discussing-on-field-wearable-technology-to-prevent-sign-stealing-185641614.html
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Chirinos is guaranteed $6.75M with an option to the Rangers.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Remember the man in white in center field AA wasnt a monster he was just ahead of the curve I'm actually wondering if anyone's gonna try to dig back that far and bring that up, at this pace. Then again it didn't exactly turn into on-field success even if true, so likely no one will care.

They have been accused of it several times. At this point MLB has to focus on making sure people are not using electronics.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Austin Dean was DFA'd by the Marlins, I'm always down to grab a high end AAA producer on a minor league deal.

Ray Verified Member Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 I'm guessing Jose Martinez is going to be one of the pieces going back
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 The Rays about to destroy another team in a trade. Even if it looks bad or average now it will look like a steal 12 months from now.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 It is Tyler O'Neill and Harrison Bader Unconfirmed!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Passan said O'Neil, Bader and Woodford and then deleted it. This is great way to break a trade. Mention just one player and let it fly. Heyman says O'Neill and Martinez.
jerb Verified Member Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal The trade between the #Rays and #STLCards is a big one, involving six pieces, three on each side, sources tell The Athletic. At least two of those pieces are draft picks. LHP Matthew Liberatore, heading to STL, still only known name.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 They're gonna dump Kiermaier on the Cards, take Bader back. They'll probably come out ahead with that swap. And the Cards will add a couple good prospects to get Liberatore. 38th overall to Rays, 66th to Cards
Ray Verified Member Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Jose Martinez, Randy Arozarena, 38th overall pick to the Rays Liberatore, low level catching prospect, 66th overall pick to the Cards
Ray Verified Member Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Pretty great deal for the Cards to get a prospect the level of Liberatore for basically superfluous pieces on their roster.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Certainly looks light on the Rays end. Arozarena is more the kind of guy the Rays usually try to get for nothing. Jose Martinez went from blocked darling, who the Cards wouldn't move, to disappointing return (who is still blocked) very quickly. What I don't understand is the Rays have talked about their 40 man roster crunch. They probably have to drop a guy like O'Grady (who they traded for in November) and Fairbanks to make room for this move without another trade really quickly
