The Iceman Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Hernandez being out is a huge blow. Fisher will get a chance to play now, but most likely it will mean Panik at 2B, Biggio in RF, and Villar at SS most nights until Bichette is back. This happening right before the Yankees series is terrible. Hope he's not out long. If you are moving Biggio to RF how does this get Fisher in the lineup?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Can’t wait to see Villar’s adventures in CF when Bo is back
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 If you are moving Biggio to RF how does this get Fisher in the lineup? Depends on how Charles configures the lineup. He may have Fisher out there some nights, and Biggio out there others. Fisher should get more a chance than he would have otherwise. However, knowing how Buntoyo is, he'll use this time to play Villar and Panik more.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Feels like a good time to remind people that Rowdy had a .501 OPS when I said he's going to bust out and be a solid hitter for us and I was laughed off the board. There’s a lot of posters on this board that seem to think its impossible for young players to improve. Jansen is a bust, Guerrero is a bust, Kay sucks, Rowdy will never be anything... its nice to see him putting up good numbers. Lets just hope he can sustain this!
The Iceman Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Can anyone tell me who is all the players on our taxi squad please? Do we have 3 cathers on the taxi squad? Jacob W J. Davis Reid Foley Murphy McKinney Who else? and any news on Romano??
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 When I was younger, I used to be buddies with Rob Godfrey, son of Paul. He used to tell me the inside scoop on the Jays. There was a time David Wells all of a "sudden" was put on the DL. The Jays FO said he slipped in the shower when making the announcement. Wells actually got drunk (really drunk obviously) and punched a window/mirror or something like that. I hope to hell this wasn't a bunch of young guys roughhousing or something like that, that took out our best player....

A lot of posters seem to take a strange delight in hating on the Jays young players for some reason, it's almost like they are actively cheering for the players to flame out rather than being hopeful of improvement over time.

Not just with himself but with others too And yes, MLB teams will often lie about what really happened. In the minors sometimes too. I knew a guy who had to go into the hospital for 2 weeks because he caught an antibiotic resistant strain of gonorrhea. Official announcement from the team was a slight hammy strain http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/sports/beaten-slurring-david-wells-calls-911 http://www.thesmokinggun.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/175xUnlimited/photos/wellspic.jpg

Others added to the team in Villar, Stripling, Ray and Walker. Moran, Alford, Bergen, Gaviglio, Drury and Tejada off at quick glance.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I actually thought Villar was a decent pickup at the deadline but he and Charlie are making me regret that very much. Players feel naturally pressure when they come to a new team. He's trying to press the issue and make things happen. Put him in the 7 hole. He needs to settle in. He shouldn't be in the 2 hole in a game we need to win after yesterday's debacle.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Peason off a mound, Shoemaker close to a mound, Giles close, Romano hopefully back before the end of September. The Jays are going to have some interesting decisions. Would they DFA Roark or Anderson?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 We have invested a over a $1M a year in a mental conditioning team...but player is struggling because they are "trying too hard" move them in the order and all is well

Who is cheering for the players to flame out?? I don't see that. People are frustrated that's all. Guerrero was a once in a life time prospect that just has not been as advertised. People thought he'd hit from day one like Juan Soto. The ground ball issues, and occasional wild swings weren't advertised. Most people are frustrated because he was hyped as a guy who wouldn't swing at a ball and hit 3 line drives a game. Everybody will be ecstatic when that happens. No one rooting against him. Jansen was suppose to be a catcher who could hit .250 with secondary skills... hitting .150 for long periods of time is dissapointing.. I'm sure everyone will be very happy if he becomes a .250 hitter with secondary skills long term.

I would imagine there is an option to leave a player off the post season roster...so you move someone with options who might be performing better

Do you think it hurts or helps them? I don't really care either way in terms of strategy. Batting order doesn't matter much in terms of run scored, unless you do it completely wrong. I do care in terms of player development. I have no idea if it matters there. If it does I want the team to use whatever strategy gets guys in the best head space.

You have to be blind if you've missed the statements like Rowdy sucks and he'll never amount to anything, Teoscar is a total mirage and will never sustain success, etc. etc. Those who have tried to take opposing viewpoints are derided and mocked for having bad opinions as if the negative posters have some sort of crystal ball that sees into the future.

He's a dumb player. Added pressure probably isn't going to help, but it isn't the over riding factor as to why he's making mental errors. He should be down in the order, because he's playing like garbage and it will put him and the team in a better position to succeed.

That's unfair especially for Rowdy. I think some posters define Rowdy's ceiling by his numbers in Buffalo. Which might be unfair. Through New Hampshire he was on track to be a top flight hitting prospect, then his Mom got sick and sadly passed away, during which time he put up really mediocre numbers in Buffalo. Then last year he was back to lights out numbers in Buffalo, so there is a case to be made he has more in him then the 2017 and 2018 numbers indicate.

Rowdy, Teoscar Hernandez too... Beyond the numbers Vladdy just looks so hopeless sometimes to the TV scouts Olerud363 TV Scout scouting report Everybody crushed the red sox bad pitching except for the fat guy who left a gazillion on base. Jays would of scored 15 runs if it wasn't for the fat guy. His fat stomach kept him from getting the bat around and he popped up a couple and struck out a bunch End TV Scouting report Have to say today's scouting report is a bit different then the ussuall 110 mph ground balls scouting report. Maybe he shouldn't fix the launch angle after all.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Blue Jays are 15-7 in their last 22 games Currently holding second place in the AL East, heading home to face the Yankees. They’re currently the 6th seed with HOU 0.5 GB and NYY 1 GB. Bo Bichette & Ken Giles are on schedule to return late next week. Pearson also moved from long distance throws to throwing BP.

But, without looking at dWAR, he has been looking really solid to me #eyetest He looks pretty good at first base to me as well. By DRS he's been graded as slightly below average at -2, UZR likes his defence quite a bit with 5.1 and 7.4 UZR/150 the last two seasons, and by OAA he's been slightly below average as well at -1.
