Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 He's a sidearmer who throws like 85 Love him already
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 We also signed RP Brian Moran. His minor league numbers and projections aren't bad. Could be decent. This is pretty cool
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 He's a sidearmer who throws like 85, I wouldn't get too excited about him lol. His most exciting attribute is being the brother of Colin Moran, who is also not very good on a second look. Yeah I remember him from when he debuted against his brother at age 30. Probably not very good but his numbers appear to be halfway decent. Plus there’s no shame in the side arm game!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Valera DFAd for Solis. I take back all the nice things I said about Valera until further notice.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Alford would be gone already if he sucked all last year.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Alford would be gone already if he sucked all last year. Jim he has sucked for a long time. No, a couple of months of mediocre AAA stats did not save him from being an Oriole (his destiny).
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 He earned some new rope with last year's 2nd half.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Shatkins is big on depth, and Alford was a top 60 prospect two years ago. Seems like a reasonable gamble to take by keeping him, especially since the Jays aren't exactly loaded in the OF.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Tank isn't the first word that comes to mind for me when watching a video of someone whose body jiggles so much He's a pitcher, lol.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Very easy to cheer for Alford, that interview after hitting that walk off home run late in the season just oozed charisma

We took him in the Rule 5 draft a few years ago.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Valera DFA’d to make room for Dolis. SS needs to be addressed now. Aside from Bichette the only SS on the 40-man is Espinal, who almost certainly sucks.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 This is pretty cool That is UNBELIEVABLY cool. Wow, how did I not hear about this??? Thanks for posting that link. Wow.

I am still hoping we sign Brock Holt. He plays SS, too. He would make Drury redundant, presumably.

Biggio hasn’t played an inning of short above AA. Not sure if he spent time there in the low minors. I’m sure they can all stand there and field the balls hit right at them, but they’re probably not going to be competent. I’m guessing Ruben Tejada ends up making the 25-man unless Espinal has a big spring. Like you, I’m hoping they sign Holt.

I'll have to check Fangraphs, there has to be a way to filter for Drury's defense at SS, but I will bet it is competent. Holt makes a lot of sense for this team. Plus he seems to be a Jays killer, and to have him on our side would be nice.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 The only hope the Jays have of competing is if everything goes right this year. If Bichette isn't playing 150+ games at short due to injury or suckage, the team isn't going anywhere anyways. Might as well plug Drury in there if the FO is going to pay him like a competent backup.

Everything has to break right, yes. Puig is out there maybe getting desperate. Time for Jays to swoop in. With Puig and fingers crossed on Pearson, just might leapfrog Boston and Tampa Bay.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I want Puig so bad Its makes the most sense imo

M.E. Verified Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Now that the Pederson deal died with the Angels. Does he make sense in Toronto? The price the Angels paid was not grotesque. Heck we have plenty of platoon infielders we could send them. He can play CF and mashed 36 in LA.

Unless the team felt he could be the difference in making the playoffs (unlikely), it's probably not worth it for us. I guess it depends what they feel is our equivalent to Rengifo is.
Ray Verified Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I know our pitching staff is pretty crowded right now, but I’d love to get Ross Stripling. Angels didn’t seem like they we’re giving up that much for Joc and Stripling. 3 more years of control too.
