I think you should lose this bet on the merit of Bergen having a 6.5 xFIP and 6+ BB/9 in AAA.

My point stands. I may have lost but I still won.

The bet was pretty simple. If Bergen is returned to the Jays by July 31, I would not post in August. If he's not, you won't post in August. If he's returned to the Jays by midnight tonight, I won't post for a month. I don't have any other screen names I post under either. I'm a man of my word.

So the odds of me winning this bet were probably 0 given the Giants phantom DL'd Bergen and then banished him to AAA for the full length of his rehab, where he's promptly sucked giant dick.

Congrats on the win! See you in september

So am I missing something here. Three players for one. What the f*** is going on

I'm starting to wonder if Shapiro/Atkins are Yankee plants trying to destroy the Jays from within

Alex Jones, where you at??

I hope we can look back on these trades and Shatkins makes us all look like idiots.

Still doesn’t change the fact that the trade looks terrible TODAY and he should have done better.

I would be scared to see the kinds of deals Atkins makes on kijiji

I bet he doesn’t even show up and claim to have less cash than what you agreed on over email.

I like Fish as an asset. I have no issues dealing Sanchez for him and Cal and Biagini are both really nothing worth stressing over.

But I don't think this was a great value trade, which seems to be a concerning pattern.

There really just seems to have been no need whatsoever to grease the wheel with both Biagini and Stevenson, even if both of them have very little value.

Fisher was a fringe top 100 prospect like 2.5 years ago, and he has been stagnant since then. I'm not entirely sure what his control picture looks like but I would presume he has one or no options left and was maybe even a 2020 DFA candidate for Houston? Correct me if I am wrong.

I don't hate Fisher and believe I am even on record saying he would have been a realistic secondary piece in a Stroman deal.

Now we pray to the baseball gods that Fisher is the new Bautista like breakout. Though it likely does not happen.

God and Atkins hates us

Part of me would have preferred Tony Kemp...he's been worth 1.4 WAR over the past 480ish PA's.

He's a Cub.

To me it seems like Atkins gets the meat of the trade right but f***s it up on the margins. The Mets should have given us another Top 15 guy and we shouldn't have given the Astros Stevenson, the trades would have been fine otherwise (and still might be) but it's just not great value. Instead of getting A- to B trades, we are doing B- to C trades.

Atkins is like the dynasty owner who you agree with on a trade, but last minute you tell him you need a 2nd round pick because you know he'll accept and he does it.

This is a decent assessment. The overall direction is great. The execution leaves a bit to be desired

No matter what any one says the jays GM should be fired. End of story. This trade is just as bad as the russ courtnall trade for john kordic.

There is zero reason to trade a semi interesting prospect like Cal Stevenson for a guy who so far has shown to be a 4th OF. This seems to completely go against Atkins philosophy of hoarding as many prospects as you can.

Stevenson was probably the primary guy the Astros wanted for Fisher. Biagini and Sanchez were throw ins.

Yup. This is where I stand on the direction of the team right now. The general direction has been correct (and I think Shapiro has a lot to do with that) but the details of how it’s been put into practice have been highly questionable. I don’t think there’s any basis for arguing that Atkins is a good GM at this point. I don’t think he’s terrible either, but I’d like to see someone else in his role under Shapiro.

From some of his trades, it seems more like he is hoarding AAAA players with the hope 1 or 2 of them breaks out and become the next Bautista.

Sanchez wasn't much but at least he was one SP the Jays had with some track record. With Borucki back to the DL along with a bunch of others. thety literally have nothing right now. And gutting the bullpen doesn't help when you already have no established starters - could be a pretty rough final 2 months of the season for Charlie and Co.

Yeah could be. Not a big deal to lose him but he was mildly interesting. More upside than Fisher though he probably doesn't amount to much. Sanchez is a negative asset at his salary, he's due over another million and then next year he probably gets a raise to above 6 mil in arb? That's a non-tender to me. He's trash but the Astros might figure something out w him.

Biagini is okay bullpen filler but he's going to start getting raises too.

I get what you're saying. Stevenson is probably the only thing worth anything in our package. In the end it's just a trade where we shuffle around the timelines of C+ prospects probably.
