Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Bye Smoaky, gonna miss ya.... Once he's gone and Tellez is back, our infield will have an average age of 22 when Galvis and Drury aren't in the lineup! 24 - Jansen 24 - Tellez 24 - Biggio 21 - Bo 20 - Vlad
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Is there any decent trade deadline coverage to listen to this morning anywhere?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Is there any decent trade deadline coverage to listen to this morning anywhere? Do you have Sirius/XM?

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 So Taylor Trammell (despite having a brutal season) is still ranked as the 30th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com My question is....if we traded Stro for Trammell and Scott Moss.....what would the board be excited? happy? pissed? indifferent? Is that a better package than SWR + Kay? Just because his numbers aren't super impressive, doesn't mean he wont be a good players. Minor league numbers don't mean as much as you think. Go and look at the likes of Brito and Jonathan Davis.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Doesn't mean much but Smoak and Galvis both in the starting lineup today

Of course prospects fail to adapt to major league pitching all the time. Jonathan Davis hasn't had much chance to prove himself at MLB level. That doesn't mean he will eventually produce, I have my doubts, but...he's not yet Brandon Wood.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) Luke Voit was put on the IL for a sports hernia. Could really see Smoak as a target for the yankees. The Phillies and 2 other teams are supposedly interested as of yesterday. He's going to be evaluated in the next 24-48hrs to see if he requires surgery, if he does that 6 week recovery. Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Can we please trade for Trent Grisham? Thanks.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Really hoping Sanchez moves. I never want to see him in a Jays jersey again.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I wouldn't sell him super cheap. He's probably not good but I'd rather take a shot at him finding something next year than settle on a nothing asset. Not opposed to moving him if you get a decent offer tho

Not opposed to moving him if you get a decent offer tho I don't think they would sell him cheap for some crap like Kolby Allard. Seems like teams are well aware of the blister issues he's gone through and that he is figuring things out. Can always put him in a relief role for immediate help.

He's going to make about 5M in arb next year, and it's his last year of team control. I'd rather take what I can get for him this year and spend the 5M on something else than keep him and cross my fingers that he's a more valuable trade chip a year from now.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Doubtful, I imagine they couldn't care less what the media thinks about the deal. Why should they? Because like any business, bad press is not good for the bottom line? I get that they’ll give their GM the benefit of the doubt that he made a good baseball decision but if it doesn’t work out, no doubt media and fans alike with say “told you so” and it’ll make the GM seat that much hotter

I feel like Sanchez is the kind of guy we'd all be happy about signing in the OS on a one year deal to see if he could turn into a decent trade chip... if he was on another team currently. The chances of him turning it around are small, but its possible. I would trade him for sure, just not for a nothing prospect
polar bear Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Well said. Really hoping Sanchez moves. I never want to see him in a Jays jersey again. Me neither.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'd hold on to Sanchez unless a team offers something decent, and I say that as someone who can't stand him and his unwarranted ego. He will be a pretty cheap arb case next year, the rotation depth on the team is suspect, and he's a Boras client in a FA year next year. Combine those things together and I'd take a chance on keeping him in 2020. If he sucks again, then DFA him. If he's better a year from now, trade him. No real urgency to move him unless there is a decent offer.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I hope they keep Sanchez

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Giles, Sanchez, Hudson, Biagini Smoak, Galvis Next few hours will be interesting Our low ceiling prospect depth is going to BALLOON!
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Doubtful, I imagine they couldn't care less what the media thinks about the deal. Why should they? You think orgs don't care about PR and perception? Lol.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Aguilar to the Rays, one less Smoak suitor
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Sanchez was always destined to be traded since day one, Jays organization past and present dislike his agent and will never sign that agents players period!!! Long standing hate there..
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 You think orgs don't care about PR and perception? Lol. They obviously do but not much they can do to address it anymore. Fans and the media have been painting them as the bad guys since they started. Atkins got his extension already so they just have to keep making their moves and hopefully these trades start panning out.
