Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Brewers lose Brandon Woodruff to an oblique injury. Sucks for them, but great for us as it opens another big player for Stroman.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Nightingale says prepare to be disappointed by Stroman return on baseball central I mean, maybe he thinks Jays fans are also thinking we are getting an Archer time return. Good thing we're not. I personally don't think I'll be disappointed, Front Office will be though.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Yeah funny how things work. I am sure if we were buying and looking at Marcus Stroman people be asking for Bichette plus Pearson

Not only do we have to compete in the same division as the two big boys and the best run organization in the MLB, but we've been mediocre for so long that we haven't been able to nab a bunch of top 10, let alone, top 5 draft picks. And now that we finally have two of the biggest trade chips available, with team control, gone are the days of trading a Torres for a free agent reliever or Jimenez and Cease for a mid-rotation starter.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I'm expecting Frazier for Stroman, so I can't possibly be disappointed when my expectation is as low as it is.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 So, am I wrong or is there usually not a flurry of activity this close to the trade deadline? Martin Maldonado and Mike Morin have changed teams...and that's about it.

This year there have been 16 so far. Patience my friend!

I don’t know about Frazier, but they might go a different direction than what everyone is expecting. The riot will be spectacular if Ross Atkins get a haul of “change of scenery” MLB guys instead of blue chippers coming back

The riot will be spectacular if Ross Atkins get a haul of “change of scenery” MLB guys instead of blue chippers coming back Frazier kind of fits that mold, although he's more "prospecty" still. I honestly don't think Frazier plus a few wildcards is a bad return, but I'm higher on him that a lot of people here.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I'm expecting Frazier for Stroman, so I can't possibly be disappointed when my expectation is as low as it is. You can still be disappointed that your low expectations have been met and that a pleasant surprise isn't part of this trade deadline.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I'm holding firm at Deivi Garcia + Clint Frazier as a starting point for Stroman if I'm Atkins. Make Cashman pay more for inter-divison. Tons of other suitors in the Twins, Astros, Brewers, Braves, Phillies otherwise.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Also, I hope they consider taking back some dead weight soon to be expiring contracts if it increases the return in prospect capital.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 The last time the Yankees pushed someone as hard as Deivi this young was Severino. I think they hold on to him. Pushing him to AAA at 20 is very aggressive. I don't think they do that and then trade him, but I would definitely be happy with a package involving Deivi in it for Stroman. I'm looking at the top 30 prospects lists for the rumored teams, and keep going back to the Twins. They have the prospects and the need. It's a perfect match.

It’s also the last ever season that the September call ups include the full 40 man, it’ll be interesting to see how the changes effect the teams’ roster decisions.

There's certain teams that *should* "overpay" to make a push. And the Twins are one of those teams. The last time they won the central division was 2010 and the last time they won the AL pennant was 1991. They won't get a top arm in free agency. Getting Stroman and Giles would give them 2 solid opportunities for a chance to make a deep playoff run, if not win it all. Much like the Raptors this year, it would be worth sacrificing some of the future to go for it all.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Wow... also why is Stroman replying to some random fan, lol.
sdyment Verified Member Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Just thinking trade deadline deal with Astros for Stroman and got to thinking... what was Hou willing to give up for Verlander (not comparing his value to Stroman)... They sent their #3, #9 & #11 prospects. This year all three are not doing well. This year the astros 3, 9 & 11 are Alvarez (!!!), Solomon and Stubbs. I say do the deal

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Just wait, the Nina will strike.. Speaking of Ninjas, this would have never happened under AA to his credit.. You never heard s*** about extensions and trades (anything legit) when AA was here. Since the Jay Bruce fiasco, you can't say the same about this FO... I’ll never forget my utter confusion and excitement seeing each of the following moves happen out of nowhere: - the trade for Reyes, Buehrle + - Dickey trade + extension (didn’t like the pieces involved but it was still super exciting) - Donaldson trade - Martin signing - Tulowitzki trade - Price trade (this one had me grinning like an idiot all day) Most of those moves didn’t work out in the long run but damn they were f***ing exciting and came literally out of nowhere. Also, AA would have destroyed the team further if given the chance. Imagine if that Bautista extension (100mil+) had happened in spring training that one year. Or a Donaldson extension. If it was up to AA we would be paying Bautista and Donaldson 20 million a year for the next 5 years. Im fine with trading Stroman.

Unless you meant Poeltl and the 30th pick being the future. The dumbass fake news media needs to stop pushing the narrative the Ujiri is a risk taker and admit he purely won the trade, regardless of outcome. Literally one minute after it was finalized, he won that trade. Oh, and Webster won it too.

Nothing like whining like a bitch on Twitter to some random's comments to prove that you are the glue. P.S. what kind of narcissist calls themselves the glue to keep a team together? Did Kawhi do that? Did Matthews do that? No. That's a compliment you use for others to spread around credit. P.P.S. Bob needs to stop being such a sissy sensitive femboy blocking half the board so he stops looking like an idiot with his repetitive posts.
