We'll see how much of a day off it is when Alen Hanson comes up to bat in the top of the 9th

Now he is dreadful, but can't be any worse than what we've seen from wonder boy so far.

Montoyo needs to have some real protection behind Vlad so he sees some better pitches to hit. Pitchers have been pitching him very cautiously and he's been too eager to make something happen.

I'd have Vlad bat 2nd or 3rd in front of Smoak.

I've never seen a team/front office be gifted a generational talent and not want him to play. Between intentionally postponing his debut, to pinch running for him multiple times, and now benching him for a game despite an off day Monday.

Gibby 2.0 would have played him every game and batted him 2nd.

Whut??? Do you believe in basic logic, and thinking?? Hypothetically if Vlad isn't good at dealing with the "pitches of out of the zone" pitching pattern that is the pattern he will see no matter what.

They have made a disccovery: Giving Vlad nothing to hit makes him a .167 .280 .280 hitter (or whatever it is)

Is it true?? I don't know, but they will continue trying this pattern until he proves he can handle it. They will give him this pattern no matter where he is hitting.

OK. So Vlad hits 2nd in front of Smoak?? Will they change the pattern and give him something to hit??

choice a) continue with the "nothing to hit" pattern that makes Vlad a .167 .280 .280 hitter

choice B) give him the "faastball down the middle" pitching pattern that makes him a .300 .350 .500 hitter.

Why would they choose B) ?? If they are scared of Smoak all the more reason to choose pattern a) since the goal is to keep him off base, and pattern a) keeps him off base.

No matter where he hits from 1 to 9 they will give Vladimir Guerrero JR. one pitching pattern. The pattern that makes him the worst hitter.

A lot would, but approach and hitting like what got you here, still implies.

He's been pressing. There's nothing wrong with giving him a day, or at least a partial day, to clear his head.

Fair points. But I don't think it would hurt his cause to have a big bat batting behind him.
