He kind of slid into his leg that was planted, but the defender's leg was in front of the base. I'm glad they overturned it. That was sloppy fundamentals by Profar.

Base line belongs to the runner, and the impact was after the bad throw. Glad they reversed that stupid call.

MLB please step up and get rid of this little girl rule and force middle infielders to use their skills.

Players had taken it a little far the other way, intentionally trying to make contact with the fielder even if they were well away from the bag, and in many cases basically trying to spike them. That's really not part of baseball, or it shouldn't be, and just leads to guys getting injured. That wasn't the case there with Grichuk. He had to slide or he takes the throw right in the face, there was really nowhere else he could slide, and Profar was in front of the base effectively blocking his slide.

Sanchez made one good pitch with the curveball and then lost it. Davis was basically an automatic strikeout with a decent curveball on the outside corner.

They changed a feed. lmao Sportsnet

They lost their feed for some reason. It happens. Be thankful they can switch feeds quickly, rather than us just seeing a blank screen.

Stop man, the rule is meant to protect middle infielders from getting taken the f*** out and risking injury. The umps made a bad call and replay rightfully overturned it. Good job MLB.

Middle infielders have to have the majority if not all the responsibility in getting out of the way while making the throw. It was always a skill that went along with the rest of their skill sets. It was always part of the game and was never an issue. The Utley slide was dirty. I agree with the runner having to maintain contact with the bag, but if physical contact occurs while doing so, then that's on the infielder.

What f***ing business does the first base umpire have calling a foul tip? f***ing goddamn ump show already in this game.

Of course Alfonso Marquez overturned the strikeout. It didn't even hit the f***ing dirt.

Didn't hit the dirt AND it wasn't fouled off. Good job to get the K anyway.

These umps must have been out late partying or something, another awful call.

Umpires are all terrible, 100% of the time.

The current rule says nothing about contact, it's about runners sliding past the bag. Grichuk made a textbook slide under the new rules and Profar f***ed it up. Under the old rules he could have leveled Profar and ended up with the same result except potentially an injury.

The way Profar was positioned, Grichuk could have seriously injured him while maintaining a legal slide. Profar is lucky Grichuk popped up.

That 97 mph sinking fastball must be pretty much impossible to square up. If he had command of it he could pretty much pull a Mariano Rivera.
