Can i propose a rule that if anyone mentions the hockey game ITT they get an instant ban.

there's a hockey game on....I'm watching the raptors.....every time I turn over to the ball game Thornton is giving up a hit.

Thornton is having a good start to this point, I don't know what you guys are on about.

3.57 K/BB and a 3.76 xFIP isn't good enough for this rotation, I guess.

I think players should wear team uniforms issued gear when working. Is your loyalty to your employer and the team or some soccer team. If you let one guy get away with it, you will have a mis mash and it should be the Blue Jays pride that you are repping!

So far Thornton looks like a reliever to me, and I hate saying that because I want so badly for him to disprove Keith "the douchebag" Law.

Through his first five starts, he has a 4.56 FIP which is just below average/average given his competition to date and a 3.73 xFIP which is very good. He has an elite strikeout rate and the walk rate is below 3 BB/9. Trent Thornton has been perfectly fine as a starter in his brief time in the MLB, and he should continue to get the opportunity to prove us otherwise.

And this is the perfect year for him to get as much playing time as possible.

Not to mention it's his first year in the majors.

The amount of hot takes I've seen on here with posters writing off so many young players is ridiculous. Kid has good stuff and can throw strikes. Let him at last pitch a full season before making so many blanket statements.

I like Sogard

He's been a good pickup. In this era of high K's and swinging for the fences, it's nice to see guy who can just make contact and work an AB.

He had a 10% k-rate last season but a .173 BABIP. Must've gotten really unlucky.

How in the world is saying he looks like a reliever writing him off? Dude has two pitches and gives up a s*** ton of hard contact. Sure we can give him a chance this year since the team isn't going to contend, but that doesn't mean we can't call what we see.

Because 20 something innings is not enough of a sample size to say a starter should become a reliever. Not to mention, doing so in literally the first full year of a pitchers career. Tons of pitchers come up and get hit around, make some adjustments, and then figure it out. In fact, that's actually the norm when it comes to pitching prospects. Very few come up and become anything right away. Give it time.
