What should have been a two run double turns into a single with no runs scored.

Should of bunted to be honest.

"Heads-up baserunning", says Buck.

How in the world is saying he looks like a reliever writing him off? Dude has two pitches and gives up a s*** ton of hard contact. Sure we can give him a chance this year since the team isn't going to contend, but that doesn't mean we can't call what we see.

I agree a starting pitcher needs more than 2 effective pitches. According to Fangraphs, Thornton pitch mix over his first 4 outings were: FB 48.2 %; SL 15.8 %; CB 25.2 %, and CH 10.9 %. So at least he is working on a full pitch assortment. The scouting report summary on Fangraphs has the FB rated 60, CB rated 55 and SL rated 55, so looks like potential to make it as a starter. But he is turning 26 this September, so now is the time to make it.

why do the giants randomly have a pretty good bullpen lol

Relievers man. Will Smith has always been good but Dyson, Tony Watson and Melancon have been bouncing around between being very good and very bad. It's just the way it goes.

Oh well, we battled back at least. Tough outing from Pannone cost us but he was probably due for some regression and he still got some swings and misses despite the overall results being underwhelming today.

Losing a 1 run game while the hitting is finally coming around and Vlad is still toiling around in the minors. Having him up could've been the difference tonight.
