Why does this guy have such a strong grip on the radio gig? Him and Ben Wagner (who is 20x the announcer Wilner is) constantly take turns doing pbp and I don't understand it. It's almost like they're just trying to placate Wilner.

 

Today he said his pick for AL Cy Young was Carlos Rodon. How can a guy who knows so little about baseball have such a strong grip on a job talking about baseball?

 

Also, he has an awful announcer voice. Nails on a chalkboard.

I think he's ok. It could be a lot worse but they could definitely improve on him.

 

He kind of back doored his way into the role it seems with Howarth getting old and Wilner giving him a little bit of a break/breaking into the role himself.

How have people not figured out how to turn the volume down, locate a alternative audio or video feed OR that not everyone cares about every little complaint a persons brain has where they need to spew it out onto the world wide web the moment they have a thought?

Wilner is good in my books, because he will call out idiots, players, managers etc, not a RPA(Rogers Propaganda Agent)/shill like Shi Davidi, Arden Zwelling, Arash Madani, Buck Martinez, etc.

 

He called out Cito Gaston few years ago, and got suspended, hahahahah

 

Last year he was on of the few not on The Mirage/Gurribabip hype train, which is excellent in my books.

 

But yea he has wrong takes from time to time, but usually he is in the right atmosphere with most of his takes.

Only redeeming quality is that he tends to be a bit more honest than other announcers. He doesn't toe the company line 100% of the time like most.

Mike Wilner is a tragedy of our times. He stood for what is right to a point, but when faced with losing his job he towed the company line. He stood up to Gaston but then backed down when the powers that be threatened him.

 

I am Wilner and so are you. Stop dissing him. Unless you have quit your job, stood up to power, lived the life of a radical and never bent to the establishment for a couple of bucks... in that case diss Wilner. Otherwise you are Wilner. We all are.
