There's a pretty good chance Giles and Osuna are close to a wash in value going forward. Both two years of control left, and they've both looked elite. Osuna has his DV thing going on, and Giles' peripherals still looked outstanding this year.

Giles has 2 years of control after 2018.

The + is probably not a very good prospect. But a sleeper prospect would be fun (like Josh Rojas).

Oh f*** what about AJ REED!? Gimme that post-hype beast.

"Wow!" is a board meme. I am somewhat surprised though. Been following twitter and never heard anything more than general grumblings about Osuna being shopped. Never any individual team.

As soon as he was charged I knew he wouldn't last the year.

The team moved with such urgency to unload Yunel for his eye black incident. There's no way the Jays would permit a dude who assaults women on the team.

So seeing as Giles was optioned I think he has 3 more years of service time after this year?

Oh s***, I think you're right.

Getting Giles + an interesting prospect would be a coup, all things considered.

Was he optioned though? Does that get us another year of control or no?

Not the same front office, there was no reason to think they would act the same

He was at 3.113 BEFORE 2018. So he's probably rolling over 4.000 this year regardless... only needs like 60 days of service time to do it and he should have it.

Well, I mean Osuna was 3rd in reliever WAR last year, while Giles was 16th. Both great, but Osuna was only worse than Kimbrel and Jansen.

Yeah how many years does Osuna have left? Giles and Osuna are about the same talent wise. Giles is a mental patient and Osuna is a beater but I would prefer the mental patient.

Looks like they both have two left. I think Giles' 2014 and 2018 will combine for over a full year.

Still though, these are comparable talents. Picking up a legit MLB ready prospect like Paulino while protecting themselves from the PR stunk of Osuna makes this a great move.

Giles might ultimately be very good. But his value was massacred so I am expecting at least something legit.

Giles is older, more inconsistent, so no, they aren't really the same.

3 years of Osuna will have 3 interesting arbitration cases. Giles is still really good for the next two years

Being a run by a big corporation like Rogers if they say get rid of him they likely have pull over Shapiro and AA does not matter who the front office is.

Osuuna has 3 years left due to Suspension. He loses a year on free agency.

Osuna also a mental case. Remember he was having anxiety issues in top of the wife beating issues.

Still, hope we get a decent return

Cott's has only two years of Osuna. He has four full years of service time.

Edit: I guess he didn't accrue service time during the suspension.

We are talking about 2 years vs. 3 years of a reliever. Age is barely a factor. We are never going to get to Giles major aging curve anyway.

He gained another year during suspension.

Has he been good this year?

Where are you guys seeing that Paulino is in the deal? I haven't seen that on twitter.

It isn't on twitter that post was a pure guess.
