Happ

Granderson

Clippard

Axford

Loup

Are all getting traded at the deadline 100 percent. Probably nets us 1 legit prospect and a handful of lottery tickets.

100%? All of them?

Hope you're right. Don't think you will be.

100% they "should" all get dealt though.

Yeah I think we have to prepare for something like McKinney and a low minors lotto ticket from the Yankees, or equivalent from another team. Rentals are not highly valued anymore.

I think there would be interest in Oh and Tepera - both of these guys are good enough to be used in important spots in the playoffs as a 6th-inning guy or something. And both would be around next season too. I could see Loup maybe returning some team's 40th best prospect or something if the right team needs a lefty.

It's hard to see anyone wanting Clippard, and almost certainly nobody will want Axford. Maybe I'm biased because Clippard doesn't ever really look good out there even though his results have been alright, but I really can't see acquiring him with the intention of using him in the playoffs.

Agreed. Clippard looks physically awkward. Doesn't "look" like an athlete. Looks like someone you dragged out of their mothers basement playing Fortnite. Move him.

If Teoscar hits the ball hard enough to overcome his approach issues, then Frazier surely has a chance.

He's probably a tick better than Teoscar at nearly everything, right?

I think Teoscar would make a pretty decent DH/spare OF.

I'm thinking that if we really are seriously pushing for the Yanks, Phillies, or whoever's better prospects we may very well see one of our own prospects going with Happ to sweeten the pot. I can see Biggio or Smith being packaged (selling high) with a Happ for a better prospect coming our way.

Teams just don't seem to do that, ever really.

If he didn't get hurt for 6-8 weeks maybe. We won't see him until September at the earliest.

On the Cubs - Cards broadcast, they said the current thinking among GMs is that there will be a ton of good relievers available in the next 2 weeks for simple salary dumps.

Well that could work in our favour as well. In recent years we have showed that we are willing to take on salary to get a better prospect learn. People are quick to forget. But when we traded for Liriano for Teoscar Hernandez and took on the remainder of Nori Aoki's salary. So if teams are looking to dump money. We can both sell and take on money for better prospects.

This is interesting. I was in Portland last weekend to see the Fisher Cats play the Sea Dogs (Red sox AA team) and there was a guy there scouting wearing a Yankees hat. I couldn't really figure it out as I was thinking they wouldn't be looking at our minor league players in trades and they definitely wouldn't be trading with the Bosox. This might explain it though.

Edit: The thought also occured to me it could just be a prospect writer wearing a yank's hat. But why scout a game with no Bo and no Vlad as a writer.

As said above, this management has shown they are willing to buy talent, even while sellers at deadline.

Lariano comes to mind, with the prospects comning, then lariano to teoscar trade as well with aoki coming the other way too

Phillies after Granderson and previously linked to Happ. I doubt Grandy by himself will net anything beyond a C level prospect, but maybe combining him with Happ and maybe a RP is more appealing.

Wonder if they would be willing to trade a guy like Kevin Gowdy who hasn't pitched since 2016.

Is this Abom's other account?

It's interesting they would be considering a left handed OF given that they're entire outfield is already Left handed aside from the guy they just sent down (Altherr). Not sure how this helps them. Would think they'd be looking at Adam Jones instead of Grandy

Chris rowley claimed by TEX per Mlbtr. Why? Was he in the majors? Or making room on 40 man for trade?

Yeah he was called up when Borucki was sent down. He gave up the salami to Bogaerts in Boston. Jays DFA him and we're hoping to sneak him through waivers to create a spot on the 40 man.

Not really anything to worry about, he had a decent ERA in AAA but his underlying numbers were not good.

I guess my point was... what’s the corresponding move?

After they designated Rowley, Urena was called up for bench depth for 2 days, optioned to Buffalo for LGJ whom came off the DL.

Rowley was an interesting story, but sadly, that's about it.

Yup, and likely LGJR will go down when Borucki comes back up.

I'm pretty sure they'll just demote/DFA Petricka or Santos instead of Gurriel. He doesn't benefit from AAA anymore and no one cares about losing either of the other two guys.

Yeah, also a possibility
