BTS Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 If we can get literally anything of even remote value for Axford/Clippard that would be great.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I'm pretty sure they'll just demote/DFA Petricka or Santos instead of Gurriel. He doesn't benefit from AAA anymore and no one cares about losing either of the other two guys. Petricka was throwing 98 mph gas with crazy movement the other day. I am not sure I want to jettison him just yet.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 If Happ makes another start for the Jays this season that would be disappointing. Don’t wait long enough to hang yourself. I think Clippard will get moved because of his vetrin reputation (for a C level prospect at best) but Axford having any value would be a shock to me.

jerb Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Andy Martino Verified account @martinonyc Source: Jays asking price on J.A. Happ has dropped from a few weeks ago. We asking teams for top 3 prospedt-types, now are being more realistic
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 The Blue Jays are shopping players including J.A. Happ, Yangervis Solarte and Marco Estrada, but Toronto's asking price for its players "is extremely high," according to one executive. Happ seems to be the most likely to be traded, though Solarte -- who has a $5.5 million club option for 2019 and a $8 million club option for '20 -- could be an attractive piece for many contenders based on his versatility. The most puzzling situation for the Blue Jays involves Josh Donaldson, the former American League MVP Award winner who has played only 36 games this season because of injuries. Donaldson has been out since May 28 and might not be back before the July 31 Deadline. Donaldson is still owed about $11 million for the rest of the season, so there's a good chance he'll pass through waivers in August, making him a candidate for a trade next month. Given that he's set to become a free agent after the season, Toronto is hoping to deal him and bring back a prospect or two before he signs elsewhere this offseason. https://www.mlb.com/news/deadline-chatter-on-ja-happ-angels-cards/c-287099870?tid=282421090

Toronto traded like one back-end top ~30 prospect for Solarte, and his talent hasn't changed, so I'm pretty sure they aren't asking for anything too lofty for him. I didn't even realize he was at 0.0 WAR. Thought he was having an average-ish season.

Perhaps we should talk about this in something resembling a podcast or whatever.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 Given how free agency unfolded last year, Solarte really isn't a lock to have his option exercised next year. I think they'd unload him for a prospect similar to the two nobodies they gave up for him.

I think they'd unload him for a prospect similar to the two nobodies they gave up for him. He'd be a nice piece to have on a good team maybe batting 7-8 filling in around the diamond. We have him batting 4-5 in a terrible lineup, he's not really in a spot to succeed.

Yeah you'd think some team would find him attractive enough, as a pinch hitter and a guy who can at least ostensibly play some positions. I mean Scuba Steve Pearce returned a prospect worth following.

That was a really bad trade for the Padres Edward Olivares has struggled in High-A and the pitcher they got in that deal got released.

Yeah, I'd move him, even if the return is small. Likable guy but bad defender and league average hitter at best. If you can get something even remotely interesting for him, then go for it.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 And Estrada hurt in his rehab start.

bowld Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 We cant even lose right. Happ ,Estrada, Osuna and Donaldson should have been able to land us a bunch of top prospects. Now we will be lucky to come away with any
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I'm ready to let Stroman go but not in a down year.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I'm ready to let Stroman go but not in a down year. Obviously depends on the return. I would probably swap him out for a similar talent also having a down year. I would prefer Stroman not to be on this team or around the likes of Vlad Jr and Bo.

I would prefer Stroman not to be on this team or around the likes of Vlad Jr and Bo. These guys grew up surrounded by douchebag ball players. I’m sure they have the tools to cope. But yeah, if we can get anything close to full value for Stroman (unlikely), then I’d pack his little tiny suitcases for him.
Todd Verified Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Looks like the jays are waiting to long. Might not make any real trades to help this aging team.

You have less than 0 clue what they have or haven't been offered for any player. Making any judgements at this point is beyond retarded. .... s*** sorry, forgot who I was replying to.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 It’s amazing how all our rental players are s***ing the bed when it counts to be traded... It really does seem that way. Really only Oh is pitching well. And Granderson has been complete train wreck with the bat the last few weeks.
Todd Verified Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I do not know why you are giving my this BS for. A lot of other people have also said jays should have made more trades by now. It will be harder to make trades on july 31 or after. And value of some players will go down. Which even now values are dropping.
