I'm just hoping all the tradeable assets have success and the rest of the team bombs. Number one pick would be sweet. I will still watch all the games just not be invested in wins. The farm system has been fun to follow for the last 2 years. Maybe its time to get an MILB.TV

You were gone in late August, lol... I hear you guys in concerns of assets, but don't get your hopes up. Look at trade history back 8 years, a few blockbusters and quite a few elite grabs, or poop.

If the other team is the Yanks, BoSox, 'Stros, Nats, or other such team, I'll tune in. Outside of a few players, Jays suck. Will change when the youth infusion happens, the Vladdy missiles are going to be fun to watch.

A nice thing about baseball is there is a game everyday and each day the score starts 0-0.

Always fun to watch live or on TV.

someone said that during the Ken Burns series....

or listen on radio

When the Jays are in it I'll watch at least part if not all of 150+ regular season games. Now that they are out of it so soon I'll back off a lot. I haven't watched a game in a week. There's no point I just get frustrated by it all. I'll still check the box scores each night and am keeping up with fantasy. If Vlad comes up I'll watch every game. I'll also start to get back into things during the trade deadline a lot. I'm hoping we can make some nifty deals.

This is what I do.

To be honest, before our run in 2015, almost like clockwork my season looked like this:

April - May: Watch a lot of Jays games and baseball in general. I love a new season - curious to see how new young players look and how teams are developing.

June - July: Summer is busy, watch fewer games, listen to more on radio while doing other activities, follow box scores.

August - September: Jays are out of it, take a break from baseball to re-energize myself for the playoffs.

October: Glued to the TV. Playoff baseball is amazing no matter who's playing.

I broke the mold in 2015 and 2016 (which were F'ing amazing), but I'm not back to the routine described above....and with 3 kids now, I'm already in August/September mode to be honest...most of my nights are spent watching junior and senior rookie baseball (god bless the pitching machine).

I just enjoy watching baseball and the Jays are my team. I wouldn't push myself through a season if I wasn't enjoying it, that's just dumb.

I don't think he will return to beast mode. More likely he just had a few great seasons on a really good hitting team until Sept 2016.

I don't know, I watch them even when I don't really want to. It's like a sickness.

Its called being a fan lol..... I have watched the blue jays regularly since 98 and there were a lot of dry times.

I'll watch games but I'm more likely to have it on my phone while gaming or something.

I'm watching for trades and other moves for the future.

Im turning on the TV but not supper excited about the games ive been watching. The Shatkins era feels like Gord Ash all over again to me. Trading for and retaining players past their prime as a cheap way to (if you get really lucky) sneak into wildcard contention makes for boring baseball and more often than not; 75 win seasons. Add to that injuries for your aging and overworked rosters and you end up with a new spring-training looking lineup every night.... which would be fine if I had interest in some of the 3rd string backups that make that lineup, but I simply don't.

Sigh.

Shapiro and Atkins remind me of nothing like Gord Ash.

No disrespect, but your comprehension on what the Jays are doing is completely f***ed.

I’ve probably watched 85-90% of games since ‘85 (or back then listened on radio). I used to record onto a vhs when I couldn’t watch live, then a DVD burner, now pvr.

All that through 22 years of no playoffs and never stopped. But it makes me sad that after last years start and now this years disaster that I’m only watching pieces of games when I can. Call me a bandwagoner if you want but this team is just so painful.

Next year with Vlad is what will motivate me again.....

Okay, you tell us, the unwashed commoner fans, what the Jays are doing. With your preternatural baseball insight. Go!

If you've watched 85% of the games since 1985 - I don't think anyone in their right mind would call you a bandwagoner.

Nobody on this board is really a bandwagoner - regardless of how many games you actually watch.

I'll take a crack at explaining it to you.

They're quickly rebuilding the farm and core while trying to remain competitive with short-term FA signings. Obviously, mostly everything needed to break just right for them to make a run at it this season, and almost all of it has not. But the near future looks very bright.

They are turning over the roster and re-tooling in preparation of the new wave of talent (Vlad, Bo, Jansen, Alford, Gurriel, Borucki, Zeuch, SRF, Hernandez, Smith, Warmoth, etc.). This past offseason they signed some veterans to short term deals that won't handcuff the franchise in the future (when that talent is ready and we're on the right win projection path again). If everything broke right this year, we'd contend for the second WC spot in an AL East that is full of rebuilding teams. Unfortunately, almost everything has broke the wrong way - but that's baseball for you. The good news is those short term veterans now become trade chips at the deadline for the team to acquire additional young talent. Some will bitch that our vets suck and we won't get s*** for them (and they could be right), but we got Teoscar for Liriano at the deadline last year - so keep an open mind.
