Lets face it guys, there are some TOUGH QUESTIONS surrounding this team at this time. Here is the thread to ask them. This is a team that has said " we are not rebuilding " so that leaves you are "re-tooling" while still hoping to " contend" ..... so

Russ Martin - Sure he calls a great game and controls the pitchers well, but... (1) we cant afford a guy who's batting average was my sons weight at 13 (2) those pitchers are not succeeding this year ... Danny Jansen, its time lets see what he may bring ?

Biagini- Please tell me this project is over. Then show me a few arms we grab to have AAA back up... Matt Garza , scott feldman, ubaldo jimenez to minor league deals. Maybe catch lightning in one. If not, what is the answer at AAA? Matt Harvey on the Jay?

Morales - as my previous posted thread.. BUH BYE ( see next paragraph )

1b / 3b / DH combo... Donaldson / Smoak / Vlad Jr ... why not let these 3 roll around those 3 spots and play almost everyday with DH serving as rest?

The bottom line, some teams can afford and single position player who is carrying a sub par bat, we cant , we don't have Sanchez / Judge / Stanton / Didi at the top allowing us the carry a .186 at the bottom.

what are your answers... or.. your own TOUGH QUESTIONS

Thats another thing... seems to me each year when we think either our OFFENCE or PITCHING will be our strength it is the opposite of what we think... LOL

MAYBE AN IDEA IF WE HAD a option at aaa

Yeah, it really can't happen now because there's nobody behind him, but it might be best for both him and the team if he were removed from the rotation eventually. He's become a 2-pitch pitcher, and he can't command either of those pitches. He might be lights out coming out of the pen as a fastball/change guy throwing upper 90s for an inning at a time.

His 15 starts since 2016 have been awful. If it continues to be more of the same, he's not a starter.

how about acquire Matt Harvey and move AAron to the pen

For Dickey?

Why not? Dickey was more valuable for us than Sanchez ever was. That's sad. Plus, we'd still have Syndergaard.

Gross. Harvey might be even worse.

Jays should have traded Sanchez the moment he hired Boras. After 2016 his value would have been unreal. Missed chance.

Sanchez' peripherals have been garbage but he might be a FIP-beater. And since he's got a 4 WAR season in the can as a SP my guess is he remains a SP for the rest of his tenure as a Jay. (Unless blister issues flare up again)

Gotta wonder if the juiced balls are part of Sanchez's return to sucktitude. They fly further, but the seam height and stuff are slightly different and blisters have been a thing since its inception (though we don't know EXACTLY when they were implemented since Rob Manfred is a sneaky tool)

I agree wholeheartedly with this assesment.

What about the SP we have at AA Romano or something?

I'm very interested in knowing if the new balls are the reason why he's throwing 6.5% curveballs this year.

Somebody has to know the answer to this. There must be a reason why he's drastically reduced his use of the curve. My guess remains is they think it's a root cause of the blisters.

Why do we care what Martin's batting average is if he walks like crazy, hits home runs, and calls/receives a great game... I'll answer it for you: we don't. Also his BABIP is .140 so there's that.

He needs a slider or cutter if his curve usage is going to be that low. 94% of his pitches looks pretty much the same and have the same action, one of them is just slower. Estrada has the same issue in that regard, but the difference is his velo difference is elite and his command is much better than Sanchez which allows his 2 pitch mix to play up a bit as a starter.

Hell, if either of those 2 could throw anything that broke to their glove side with any consistency it would be a godsend.

I think the real tough question is, what do you do with the impending FAs if you're within like a game of the WC at the trade deadline?

Sanchez should be traded before being demoted to the pen. I'd think he'd still have decent trade value around the league.

Yep! I can see the team like the Brewers, Angels, Twins and Giants be interested. Heck, maybe even Astros where they'd convert him to a pen arm for a title push.

Sanchez missed almost an entire season. We've seen a handful of starts. I'm a bit concerned with the velocity. I'm not sure if he's just not throwing at max effort or if he's lost some velocity. I don't think he's used the curve enough either, but his change up has developed quite a bit.

I do find it a bit funny that he's had the most swing and misses of his career and people and people are ready to throw him in the pen now. Let's see if he can get the fastball going. It's only been a month. He could certainly turn things around and bring that walk rate down. It's too early to pull the plug.

Starters cannot live on 2 pitches long term unless something about at least 1 of the pitches is elite, or they have elite command. Neither is true in Sanchez's case. Short term... anything is possible.

I don't think anyone thinks he should go to the pen now. It's certainly on the table if he continues on this trajectory though.

All Sanchez needs is some limp dick slider/cutter that tunnels with the fastball and change and he'll be way better.

What I don't understand is, he has an above average curveball, but he almost completely refuses to throw it this year.

That was part of my point. He has a decent curve. His pitch selection is a bit puzzling this year. His fastball doesn't look the same this year. It's still early. I'm hoping things look better over his next few starts.

Because he doesn't know where it's going
