Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 If Sanchez goes on DL again who are you calling up? Ryan Borucki? Move Biagini to the rotation at that point I suppose.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 If Sanchez goes on DL again who are you calling up? Ryan Borucki? If Borucki has a strong start to the season I'd like to see him given a legit shot if there's an opportunity.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 If Sanchez goes on DL again who are you calling up? Ryan Borucki? I suspect we'll see a bunch of filler signings in the next few weeks to fill out Buffalo.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 More details on the Garcia contract.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Was this run by Stroman first?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Was this run by Stroman first? They used the extra money that he didn't get in his arbitration to top up Garcia.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 More details on the Garcia contract. I like this a lot. Garcia is an injury prone pitcher and is usually quite solid when healthy, if he's pitching 170-180+ innings for us then that must mean he's doing a pretty good job so he's making up for the added $500k incentives.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 This is a weird way to spell Lance Lynn
CraigG Verified Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 This is decent, mainly I'm glad I don't have to watch Biagini as a starter... hopefully.
AGL_91 Verified Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 I hope they start Joe in Buffalo and see if the set up role figures it self out before moving him back to the pen. But at the same time you don’t wanna mess with a guy to much and wreck him like NYY did with Joba.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 I love this deal. He may be the best #5 in the AL. I think this means Biagini is not stretched our during ST, but instead moves right to the 'pen, where Gibby really wants him. This is a big win/win.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Not bad, was hoping for Cobb or Lynn. They'll keep the Beeg stretched out and use him for multiple innings as they have in the past.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Anyone know if Jays are still behind Angels in projections?
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Anyone know if Jays are still behind Angels in projections? Fangraphs had us at 85 wins and Angels at 86 prior. In a perfect world with Biagini going to the pen I think the Jays should project higher, although I can't say i'm personally too optimistic. Just hoping for a fun season unlike last year. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings

The Iceman Verified Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Nice deal. Love Shapiro GM signs players. Presidents oversee. Why not give credit to Atkins the GM for the signing? When the Jays traded for Price, Tulo, Revere, Lowe were you praising AA or Beeston??

Shapiro is a lot more involved in baseball ops, which is one of the reasons why AA wanted to leave. Atkins should get credit though too, Shatkins is doing some great work here.

Shapiro let Antonelli make a blockbuster trade in Cleveland that he admitted he wouldn't have done, yet you think he's here making all the calls to sign Jaime Garcia to a one year deal? Yeah, sorry, but it didn't happen. "More involved" doesn't mean what you think it does. Most Presidents are "more involved" than Beeston was. By the end of his tenure, Beeston was an outlier, not the "norm". Very few teams have Presidents that are completely devoid of any duty in actual baseball decisions.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 The fWAR breakdown per position : https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=ALL&teamid=14 I would be absolutely thrilled if only 3 of our players ended up as negative WAR guys, and guys who shouldn't see a tonne of time at that...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 The jays front office seems more collaborative. According to Atkins, Cherington worked with Garcia's agent on this deal. I'm sure Atkins, Cherington, LaCava, Tinnish, etc, do a lot of grunt work, and maybe Shapiro too, to get deals done, just that Shapiro has the final say. A random homeless man has probably done more work in the past year than Beeston did in his last tenure with the Jays.

Pearce and Morales for sure and the bullpen is a crapshoot anyways.

Beeston had plenty of influence on the Dickey deal.
