That would be a nightmare of a mistake. A qualifying offer can only yield good results for us.

not if they don't think he's healthy enough to be on the field. $18M plus medical. I have talked since Shatkins got here that they won't splash into FA. I think this is the winter they do. Kuechel maybe. If budget is an issue, I couldn't care less if Donaldson is here for 1 more.

Maybe, but IMO it's more likely they wait for 2020. That gives more time for Bo, Vlad and others to establish themselves, and we'll have the Morales and Martin contracts off the books, with Tulo "only" tying up $14m.

Did you just completely miss the point of his post?

Not sure.

Someone listed a bunch of Jays and said they're redundant and should be moved.

Someone said good teams have depth (insinuating that getting rid of them isn't the best move). And I agree that good teams do have depth.

I said s***** teams can have depth too, seeing as all those names are currently with the Jays organization now, and they're a s***** team.

You're saying I missed some sort of point.

Please explain.

Unless he accepts, doesn't play through injury, and prevents money being spent elsewhere. That could be what the front office is worried about.

If they don't want him back and he accepts, there will be teams lining up to acquire him via trade.

...exposed as a poor hitter?

He's a good Bench guy, obviously shouldn't be given a full time role slotted in the clean up spot.

As much as I went on about the Vlad injury, this one is a better example of the insidious chronic injury that is never well explained and goes on forever. The nightmare scenario I kept on ranting about for Vlad, has actually happened here. It started off day to day, and just kept going. Gurriel gets wiped out at second is screaming, and is back in 3 weeks. Pillar's injury apparently could of killed him he's back in two and a half weeks (instead of 8). Grichuk back in 3 from his injury. Diaz carted off, back in 3 or 4. Vlad Guerrero jr, has career ending knee issues, and is back in 5 weeks.

Donaldson and Tulo out for months with chronic stuff.

They don't seem to want him back, for reasons we're probably not aware of.

It's because he's a soy boy

Apparently we have a 31 year old named Murphy Smith on our team now.

Good for him. He's stuck with it for this long that he deserves to get the call at least once in his life. I hope he does well.

Would it be the biggest FU ever if Schowalter walked Morales 4 times, lol Per Blair.

Technically that might continue his streak since walks don't count as ABs. It's kind of weird and shouldn't be like that but I believe this is the case, when Acuña got HBP and taken out of the game his leadoff homer streak was still said to be intact.

You are correct.

FTFY, Ross Atkins is a the poster boy of soy, it only makes sense he would want a clubhouse full of estrogen and less testosterone.

I wonder if the FO might consider Stubby Clapp for manager going forward? Good Canadian kid and 2017 AAA Manager of the Year. No small accolade.

nope!

It's a major league name.

Nah lets just hand the job to Victor Martinez.

What about a guy that is just 38 and managing in the org for 9 years with multiple playoff runs and 2 championships under his belt, who has a relationship with about 40% of the Jays.

Or keep Gibby

It's time for him to go...actually he would make a good bench coach, but as manager I'd like to see someone new

The outlook for this team is very grim for the next 3-4 years. We won’t be bad enough to tank, which makes it even worse.

Most of our prospects will be scrubs except for VGJ and DJ.

Stroman is the only mlb asset that might around in a few years.

Cant disagree more, i think the outlook for next year is bad as younger guys are integrated into the lineup, however in 2 years this will be a very exciting upcoming young team

Why... quote that??

I agree. Adding the second best farm system in the league to a core that is basically an average team (AL East schedule considered) can only yield good results.

Jansen, Borucki, McKinney, and Gurriel Jr. are already in the process of establishing themselves as part of the next great Jays team. The next wave of Alford, Bichette, Biggio, Reid-Foley, and Guerrero Jr. are not far behind. If the FO is smart about adding some pitching then this will be the worst year of our 'rebuild'.

I agree with you.

If we can build a team with solid, better than average players (1-2+ WAR), to compliment Vlad and Bichette, plus build a decent rotation, we will be in the hunt every year. Exciting, meaningful ball in September has to be the goal right now.

ummm.... just look at the elite MLB teams today, Vlad and Bichette surrounded by average (1-2 WAR) players is unlikely to be enough. Not even close actually.
