Speaking of unwritten rules...

This was spoken on MLB Network to no end, lol. In the end almost everyone said don't shift, and it won't happen, seems pretty simple to me.

Same here. If the game is so out if reach that you're not supposed to bunt, why are they shifting to prevent a lowly single?

Strage moves by Gibby. If you wanted to DH Smoak. Why not have the red hot Solarte play at 1B instead of Morales. And than he also decided to put Pearce in RF. Solarte should have either been playing 1B or LF today.

Perhaps Solarte needs a rest of he wants to get Morales' bat going after a solid showing yesterday. I usually don't question the players in the lineup because only they know about nagging injuries and whatnot. The order in which they appear is another issue entirely.

Pearce in RF is horrible. Grichuk maybe struggling with the bat but the stellar defense is there

Grichuk just needs a day off to clear his head or something, we'll live with the defensive downgrade for one game if it means he can finally get clicking on offense.

Holy jesus you guys question everything. Think for a second about how much information you probably don't have when forming your opinion about what is right or wrong about our lineup night. There is absolutely no reason for people to be questioning the construction of our lineup for any one game.

I'm not questioning everything. I just think its odd you leave a red hot hitter out of the lineup. He literally reached base every time he came to the plate yesterday and not only has the offence weakened so has the defense. If hes hurt that's fine will find out... but Pearce in RF and Morales at 1B is pretty gross.

No Morales on the lineup card. Tim Mayza is on the list so Morales is going to the DL. #BlueJays

I wonder if Solarte could play a better OF than Pierce. Oh well they are both in the lineup and thats best for the team. not that I was wishing on Morales.

Doesn't Mayza have a fairly high ERA?

yeah - we don't judge based on ERA around these parts...

14.3 K/9, 2.1 BB/9 2.98 FIP and 2.15 xFIP in 17 innings last year suggest he has considerable upside.

It looks like Osuna is throwing too many fastballs in the zone, hitters haven't squared him up yet but its probably gonna come back to bite him.

Yea hopefully he starts throwing a lot more balls soon.

I don't know why you're being flippant about it, the idea that a pitcher has to prioritize missing bats and limit the number of straight fastballs thrown in the zone is not even a new age pitching philosophy.

Closers have to come in firing strikes, Osuna's biggest strength is his ability to pound all corners of the strike zone with precision. As long as the command is there he's just fine living around the zone.

Osuna has been locating all year. Hes actually had a couple K's stolen from his due to s***** calls. That foul tip call last night was awful. I'm not worried about the lack of strikeouts yet. His fastball velocity is already up over last year as well.

Ya maybe start walking a couple guys to keep them thinking.

You guys are living in a bygone era, the name of the game today is missing bats, everything else comes second. If anything, a high leverage reliever needs to prioritize that even more.

Look up Max Scherzer's fastball location.
