Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Rays top pitching prospect Brent Honeywell left with a trainer saying foul language--serious elbow injury? UPDATE: Forearm strain. What's your bet he needs Tommy John Surgery? Two days ago I traded Honeywell + Barreto + 3rd round for Vladimir Jr + 2nd round

If Hudson was a FA right now, he'd probably be looking at a minor league deal with an invite.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 So the Rays basically got Cron, Hudson and Gray and save a little money while losing Dickerson. What does everyone think of this and their other moves? I can't really tell.

Oh right.. the Rays are too cheap.

What does everyone think of this and their other moves? I can't really tell. I really liked the Souza sequence. They turned Souza into Gomez, Banda, Solak, and two PTBNLs. Gomez is probably a bit worse than Souza, and Souza is controllable for a bit longer, but Banda projects like an average starter right now, and comes with 6 years of control, to say nothing of Solak and the other two. Similar deal with the other sequence - they don't care about Dickerson's ability to play OF, because they wouldn't want him there anyway, so they flip a RH DH for a LF DH who complements their team a bit better. As with Gomez and Souza, the guy they get is a bit worse, but he's cheaper, and they pick up Hudson and Gray. Nobody should want their FO to have to operate like this - it's terrible. But given the constraints put in place by TB's ownership, these are smart little moves that probably add value overall.

Well the Rays did DFA Dickerson so anything they got was a bonus (though of course most people would have said they shouldn't have done that in the first place)

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Does anyone like Cron? He looks useless to me

CraigG Verified Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Crazy at Swayze!!! Among the dumbest things I've seen at a baseball game.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Love it! I've had a chance to sit in Swayze's RF and it's one of the best party places to watch a baseball game. Miss St. has a pretty good LF but no one should ever go there. I've got a few more on my College ball bucket list that I hope to hit before I die. Animals of section B singing O'Canada in Florida State...the four ball walk count at College Station are the two that I most want to do. And of course an Omaha trip someday
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Crazy at Swayze!!! Damn... what a waste! That was great!

baseballsss Verified Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Anybody see Joey Votto talk hitting? It's on MLB network I think or if you have score mobile. Sorry can't post it. Votto sounds very smart. Hopefully he becomes a hitting instructor when all is said and done.

Didn’t you hear his comments about making his own pitching changes mid game this season
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Damn, that sucks. I was really looking forward to watching him this year.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Damn, that sucks. I was really looking forward to watching him this year. Yeah. Me too. I don't want to hijack or anything but how the f*** is my fantasy luck so f***ing bad?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 No surprise there, feel bad for the guy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Yeah. Me too. I don't want to hijack or anything but how the f*** is my fantasy luck so f***ing bad? I honestly feel terrible for you. You trade for Ohtani, then before he throws an MLB pitch we hear that his UCL is partially torn. So you do what I think was a pretty sensible thing, and spread the risk over multiple assets, one of which is a pitcher with no present injury concerns. A month later and Ohtani is healthy by all accounts, and your new pitcher is getting TJS. I hope Kingery absolutely mashes this year.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Damn... what a waste! That was great! Probably Budweiser so, on the contrary, this is the only acceptable thing to do with Bud aside from throwing it down the sink.

I know this isn't OT so I don't want to turn this into a "boo hoo my fantasy team" thread but it's f***ing frustrating. One of my players even died.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Damn, that sucks. I was really looking forward to watching him this year. Remember when we all thought the Rays were doing something special in handling their pitchers as they never had TJS. The past few years just shows that either Friedman had cut a deal with the devil...or it was just dumb luck.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Crazy at Swayze!!! At first I thought this was a pretty big waste of beer but if you look really hard you can see spanky licking every last drop off the floor.

If you've resigned yourself to drinking s***** beer, why wouldn't you just drink the cheapest one? Budweiser still pretends that it's premium.
