Not only has Seattle acquired prototypical Mariner Jay Bruce this offseason, they've now also acquired another in Carlos Santana for some reason.

Lol!

Can the Mariners catch the O's next year for the defensive incompetence crown? Stay tuned!

Can we fill in the blanks for a second now...what's the Phillies lineup look like?

C - Alfaro / Knapp

1st - Hoskins

2nd - Hernandez

SS - Segura

3rd - Franco

LF -

CF - Hererra

RF -

Then they have Kingery, Nick Williams, Altherr kicking around.

Obviously Harper would move into RF. If they sign Machado - Franco moves to the bench. Kingery (and/or Franco?) could probably play LF unless they think that would hurt his long term development as a middle infielder. I guess Kingery could just serve as the super utility guy also. I wonder if they'll be looking to move Franco for a catcher, as they can't expect a repeat out of Alfaro (.400+ BABIP, 36 K%)

I don't think Cano is gonna have many opportunities to DH for the Mets unless something drastic changes lol.

Well Mets are maybe hoping that Buck Showalter's idea catches on

The Phillies might make an interesting trade partner for us. They clearly want to compete next season, but if they spend a lot on Harper and Machado, they'll need some cheap pitching. I wonder what they would give up for Stroman.

I don't think they realllllllly need a SP. I guess they could benefit from a reliable #3 type workhorse, but you can't really call Stroman that. Sure, their rotation looks a lot better with another front end SP but every team's does.

Nola

Pivetta

Arrieta

Velasquez

Eflin

Eickhoff

De Los Santos

Sixto

Eshelman

etc.

Jean Segura, James Pazos, Juan Nicasio for JP Crawford and Carlos Santana

LOL Mariners

Phillies come out like bandits on this deal! They give up the Santana contract to upgrade from Crawford to Segura, get to move Hoskins to 1B, and get 2 decent bullpen arms in Nicasio and Pazos

Still think they hold on to Stroman (as they probably should) until the deadline. Just throwing around ideas.

The M's are throwing RPs gratuitously into deals like they are playing in a 20 team fantasy league.

I wonder if they'd be interested in Martin. They said they might spend money foolishly this year and could use a catcher...

For the record - I'm perfectly fine with keeping Martin this year to mentor Danny - but if we could get something for him, while giving him the opportunity to start for a contender....then so be it.

The Mariners are going to tank so, so hard next year, and shamelessly so.

It's going to suck being a Mariners fan next season.

They are going to have to eat some money to get out from under Kyle Seager's contract. I wonder if they will even both, or if there would even be any takers.

That's Dipoto's MO. He treats actual real-life MLB players like he's trading them in a fantasy league.

Who's going to collect saves for the Mariners this season?

Tulo and Morales for Seager!!!

Is Morales for Leake close? If you assume Morales and his 11M is a complete sunk cost works out to 2/25 for Leake. Probably still need Seattle to kick in a player or $.

I'm trying to come up with some way to justify that latest deal from a Seattle standpoint but I don't think it can be done, just terrible.

There is no world where you should be taking on salary to move a player like Jean Segura.

I don't think it is honestly. Morales is a cut candidate and Leake has been a league average or better starter his whole career including a 2.5 WAR season just this year and is only 31. We'd probably have to kick back like a C prospect along with Morales, which isn't the end of the world but I don't know if it's worth it rather than just cutting Morales yourself which I imagine someone in ownership has not approved or something.

I don’t really understand the market anymore, but I feel like Leake wouldn’t get 2/36 via free agency in this new world where nobody wants to pay anyone over 30.Who knows though.

He wouldn't get that, but he'd probably get something in the neighbourhood of 2/20-25 with a team option or so. Jaime Garcia who was a much bigger risk, older and never been an innings eater got 1/10 guaranteed from us just last season, someone with Leake's track record would command more I would think.

My point being that they'd probably rather have some league average production at a not-unreasonably more expensive than market price than to have Morales who couldn't even do well in a hitter's haven.

Yeah, I was thinking in the 2/20-25 neighborhood too. So he's overpaid by about the same 11M Morales is owed. I guess it depends on whether they see value in getting dollars off the books by the end of the 2019 season. You're probably right that they'd need some other kicker.

This was in my Facebook memories from 5 years ago. I have zero clue who I was talking about. Can anyone help me?

AA is a crafty ninja once again. He saw a 0.00 TV rating in Canada's Mennonite community so he went out and got the majors only Mennonite. #hesback

That makes sense. I was factually incorrect as I'm pretty sure Chris Heisey is a Mennonite as well. I assumed I was talking about him but AA didn't acquire him until 2015. It was bothering me and I was too lazy to look it up.

It was just prior to the intervention. Your meth and crack habit had become self-destructive and compulsive. You had cleared out your bank account, bought a box set of midget porn and a 522 Travis Snyder rookie cards as an investment.

Happy to say you have been crack free for 5 years, JimCuck bought your midget porn for $40 Cdn or at the time $10 USD. Dr. Dinger paid you double what you paid for the 500 Travis Snyder Rookie cards... You took your profit and reinvested in Dalton Pompey rookie cards..

On behalf of the board, we are glad to have you back.

The link I went to look it up had Heisey on it so you're right. I can't believe this is even a thing that you would know off-hand at any time lol.
