Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Juan Soto is absurd. 2/2 with 3 walks today, and now has a 17% BB rate, 17% K-rate, and a wRC+ of 164. His command of the strike zone at the age of 19 is pretty much unprecedented. Came into this thread to say this. How can this kid not have an OBP north of .400 every year, with these skills.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Washington 3.5 behind Atlanta now and 5 behind the Phillies. Anyone want to predict the date the Nats take the division lead. Phillies keep surprising me but I figure September 8th The Nats are stacked with talent, there's just little to explain why they've been so mediocre. A core of Harper/Soto/Turner/Eaton/Rendon/Daniel Murphy with Scherzer and a decent bullpen should be crushing the NL East.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Soto is basically peak Joey Votto, already. He definitely has more raw power than Votto though. And I suppose a chance to have more defensive value, depending how much he does or doesn't develop out there.
admin Site Manager Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Not sure if it's been posted but I was in the car today listening to the radio, they were talking about the Winnipeg Goldeyes score from last night and mentioned Rafael Palmeiro was on the opposing team and had a couple RBI. He's 54 this year.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 This video gave me chills and is really well put together. Solid list. Jays fans will not be disappointed. MLB Top 10 Greatest Innings of the 21st Century do we really deserve the number one spot on that lmao
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Final line for Glasnow 4IP, 9K, 0BB, 2H, 1HR Two straight solid starts.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 do we really deserve the number one spot on that lmao Uh did you watch the game?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 do we really deserve the number one spot on that lmao Why not? That inning was legendary?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Final line for Glasnow 4IP, 9K, 0BB, 2H, 1HR Two straight solid starts. Moogy could have put that line up against the Orioles, and he hasn't worked on his slider in 30 years.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Moogy could have put that line up against the Orioles, and he hasn't worked on his slider in 30 years. Sure, I guess in some respects it was a return to AAA ball for Glasnow.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Man, I'm watching Felix for the first time in awhile and it's really sad.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Welp my ratios aren't coming back from that one. Have you seen the shitbags I'm throwing out there? No deficit is too big.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Uh did you watch the game? Why not? That inning was legendary? It was the only the ALDS though, Freese tying it in the 9th of game 6 of the world series was insane.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 It was the only the ALDS though, Freese tying it in the 9th of game 6 of the world series was insane. I'm biased but even with that in mind that 7th inning was completely ridiculous from start to finish, Freese had a great one hitting it to the fence with Nelson Cruz f***ing up, but the Rangers-Jays inning had it all, Elvis Andrus became a Blue Jays legend in that one.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Author Posted August 8, 2018 Sure, I guess in some respects it was a return to AAA ball for Glasnow. This thought pretty much inspired my Palumbo comment.

I'd love to fairly eliminate the bias from my thought process, but I can't possibly imagine a better, more dramatic inning than that 7th inning against Texas. Watching that live at the bar here in Calgary was absolutely unrivaled. I couldn't even imagine watching that at the stadium or even probably anywhere in Toronto. It was glorious, to the point that a conversation with the person beside you was virtually impossible. I will never forget those moments.

I remember when he was busted and they said he was pleading not guilty, lol.

The Freese 9th inning triple and 11th inning walk off was remarkable. I had tingles watching it. EDIT - I just realised the 10th inning of that game was #2 on the list. Holy s*** was it an incredible game to watch!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 M's sinking like an anchor. The funny part is literally everyone saw it coming.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 He gone! What an idjit! I remember when he was busted and they said he was pleading not guilty, lol. He made a decent living when he was playing I just don't get why he'd take the risk. He probably could have went into coaching or private lessons to make money. So dumb.
