Juan Soto is absurd. 2/2 with 3 walks today, and now has a 17% BB rate, 17% K-rate, and a wRC+ of 164. His command of the strike zone at the age of 19 is pretty much unprecedented.

 

Came into this thread to say this. How can this kid not have an OBP north of .400 every year, with these skills.

The Nats are stacked with talent, there's just little to explain why they've been so mediocre. A core of Harper/Soto/Turner/Eaton/Rendon/Daniel Murphy with Scherzer and a decent bullpen should be crushing the NL East.

Soto is basically peak Joey Votto, already.

 

He definitely has more raw power than Votto though. And I suppose a chance to have more defensive value, depending how much he does or doesn't develop out there.

Not sure if it's been posted but I was in the car today listening to the radio, they were talking about the Winnipeg Goldeyes score from last night and mentioned Rafael Palmeiro was on the opposing team and had a couple RBI. He's 54 this year.

I'm biased but even with that in mind that 7th inning was completely ridiculous from start to finish, Freese had a great one hitting it to the fence with Nelson Cruz f***ing up, but the Rangers-Jays inning had it all, Elvis Andrus became a Blue Jays legend in that one.

I'd love to fairly eliminate the bias from my thought process, but I can't possibly imagine a better, more dramatic inning than that 7th inning against Texas. Watching that live at the bar here in Calgary was absolutely unrivaled. I couldn't even imagine watching that at the stadium or even probably anywhere in Toronto. It was glorious, to the point that a conversation with the person beside you was virtually impossible. I will never forget those moments.

The Freese 9th inning triple and 11th inning walk off was remarkable. I had tingles watching it.

 

EDIT - I just realised the 10th inning of that game was #2 on the list. Holy s*** was it an incredible game to watch!

He made a decent living when he was playing I just don't get why he'd take the risk. He probably could have went into coaching or private lessons to make money. So dumb.
