That's Kirk Gibson, lol.

s*** is it really? He's awful, one of the most boring and monotone voices I've ever heard from a broadcaster, he sounds like he's 85 and would rather be doing anything else.

Man, I thought he was soothing and kind of insightful.

Gibby 1.0 is one of the worst. I rank Buck and Pat middle of the pack, after watching every TV crew for at least one series every season.

What an embarrassment for baseball. I wonder how much of an impact this has on their inability to attract a younger audience.

Reminiscent of Robbie Alomar there.

Buck is a very good colour announcer, he gets too excited over cans of corn for Jays home games, they are trying for some kind of banter and entertainment from Buck and Pat.

A lot of teams have announcers intending to lull you to sleep.

Today in 1963, Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn duel 0-0 for 16 innings until the Giants finally win 1-0 on a Willie Mays homer. In a related story, the Nationals and Phillies used 18 pitchers to get through 13 innings yesterday. You tell me which kind of baseball is better.

Tabler ruins all broadcasts, no idea why he has been apart of the broadcast for this long. Everytime he is away the broadcast is 1000000000x more enjoyable.

Marichal and Spahn were probably throwing 75 mph by the end of that game and survived it due to exceptional manager malpractice and very poor quality hitters. I’d rather see modern ball hands down than watch two aces risk their careers by pitching long past their effective pitch counts.

I wonder at what pitch count a current manager would get call from the front office ordering him to remove the starter. Like, if Gardenhire tried to trot Fulmer out for the 11th inning 140 pitches into a start, he’d certainly be overruled

Damn, actually the Giants had a f***ing badass lineup that game. Mays, McCovey and Cepeda each had 34+ HR and .915+ OPS that season, while Felipe Alou and Ed Bailey both were well above average hitters also.

That kind of tells you show s***** pitching was back in the day. Those guys post huge numbers, but can't hit a 42 year old Warren Spahn after seeing him the 6th time through the order when he's throwing 75-85 MPH. I mean how f***ing awful were the other guys they faced?

Alex Anthopolous is at it again; it doesn't look like Carter Stewart is signing lmao.

Which is crazy if you think about it because he was one of the prospects to attend the MLB Draft live. They are trying to convince more players to come to that event. Could you imagine lol.

i guess you could look up the careers of Marichal and Spahn, are they new to you? I hope you've heard of Willie Mays....

on the other hand you have provided the most brilliantly cynical and needlessly bitter and false post of the year to date, if that was your intent.... :D

The situation seems weird. Low balling him for a minor wrist injury he got swinging a bat?

Mejia conditionally allowed to return from drug ban in 2019

Jul 6, 2018

NEW YORK (AP) New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia has been granted conditional reinstatement from his lifetime drug suspension and could return for the 2019 season.

Mejia became the first player suspended for life under Major League Baseball's drug program in February 2016 following his third positive test for a banned steroid. He was allowed to apply for reinstatement one year later.

Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said Friday that Mejia may participate in non-public workouts in the team's facilities after the All-Star break and will be eligible for a minor league rehabilitation assignment in mid-August. If he meets specified conditions, he would be eligible to resume all baseball activities when spring training starts in February.

Manfred met with Mejia last year, after the application for reinstatement was submitted.

"Mr. Mejia expressed regret for poor choices he made in the past and assured me that, if reinstated, he would adhere to the terms of the (drug) program going forward," Manfred said in a statement. "In light of Mr. Mejia's contrition, his commitment to comply with the program in the future, and the fact that he will have already spent almost four consecutive years suspended without pay, I have decided to grant Mr. Mejia a final chance to resume his professional career."

A right-hander who turns 29 in October, Mejia was the Mets' closer in 2014, then was suspended for 80 games in April 2015 following a positive test for Stanozolol, a drug popular among bodybuilders. At the time, he said, "I can honestly say I have no idea how a banned substance ended up in my system."

Mejia returned July 12, appeared in seven games for New York, then was banned for 162 games in July after a positive test for Stanozolol and Boldenone. The third suspension was for a positive test for Boldenone.

"I've had a long, difficult time away from the game to contemplate the mistakes I've made both with regard to my positive drug tests and also the false allegations I made about Major League Baseball's investigation into my testing history," Mejia said in a statement issued through the players' association. "Baseball is my profession, my passion and my life, and for those mistakes I am truly sorry."

A Dominican signed by the Mets in 2007, Mejia reached the major leagues in 2010 and became their closer in 2014, when he had 28 saves in 31 chances. He is 9-14 with a 3.68 ERA in 18 starts and 95 relief appearances.

He has four years, 140 days of major league service and would be eligible for salary arbitration twice before becoming eligible for free agency.

"We appreciate his regret and renewed commitment to comply moving forward," the Mets said in a statement. "We will evaluate his progress on the field and assess the situation and our options in the coming months."

Remember when Bickford was telling everyone that he wanted like $4.5 million and we drafted him anyway, only to offer him something like less than $3 million LOL?

At this point this s*** can't just keep being a coincidence. It's as if he thinks he can seriously strong arm these kids into signing for below slot. We also missed on Singer because of some phantom injury that didn't even prevent him from dominating as a true Freshman at Florida.
