Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 God this front office is the best.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Props to Estrada for signing this deal, he must really like the organization to sign an extension for 1 guaranteed year this close to FA.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Excellent. Have to think we paid higher for him to only have one guaranteed year though (not that I'm opposed to that).
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 You never pay attention. I really don't. This happens a lot?
mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Great news. Estrada can still be a good end of rotation starter and he seems to really enjoy playing for the Jays. Win-win.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Very very nice! I love Estrada, I hope an agreement can be struck soon!!!!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Yeah if it's one year that seems odd for Estrada to do unless it's something like 1/15. Regardless good to have him back. I don't agree with avoiding a rebuild but if they are going for it, then might as well load up on deals that end after 2018 so they can start fresh after that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Even at 1/15 thats pretty damn good value. He's been basically a 3 Win pitcher each of the last 2 seasons and FIP underrates him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 ??? It was documented everywhere, they were mutually involved in talks of an extension. They wanted him, he wanted Toronto, no it doesn't happen often.

A team option tacked on to it would be nice too.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 1/15 seems a bit rich considering his last contract was 2/26 and he was worse in 2017.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 1/15 seems a bit rich considering his last contract was 2/26 and he was worse in 2017. I mentioned 1/15 because I don't know why he would sign a one year deal without testing the market first. I'm assuming he's going to make around the same as he did this year which would give him some incentive to do it. If he took a pay cut for one year, then I won't complain.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I'm thinking same numbers bro. With less a buyout. Something like 1/12 with a 1M buyout on a 12M 2019 option seems fair.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Something like 1/12 with a 1M buyout on a 12M 2019 option seems fair. I'd think that's fair. Could be more if his agent's good, but mutual endorsement sounds right.

Have to consider inflation don't forget. There would be no incentive for him to sign 1/12 this close to FA which makes me think it would be a little more.
wamco Verified Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Estrada and Anderson. Last year's morales and Pearce.
Cbert Verified Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Just heard Morosi on the radio say it's 1 year 13mill with no option. Pretty good deal!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 It's 1/13 apparently. Nice. Dude took a small pay cut and avoided free agency to sign a one year deal. Either he wasn't optimistic about his market this winter or he really wanted to stay in Toronto.
