saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Couldn't he have given him a check for 10m or something to convince him, or does he save that just for terrorists? keep it to the politics thread....
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Trout gets the much needed help he needed. What a coup by the Angels to add that level of talent. Hopefully they don’t find a way to screw it up.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Well they did develop a late first round pick into one of the best players of all time. If I were them I wouldn't let anyone forget about that. I'd willing to bet Trout becomes Trout no matter what Org. he was in. He's just one of those special talents.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I hope they miss the playoffs. Why?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Why? I feel for those starving fans in LA who have seen no success for professional sports teams in their region. Give me a break. Look at the Hamilton and Pujols money they spent. I'd rather have the twins or the Jays, for that matter, make the playoffs.

It would be good for baseball if Trout and Ohtani were in the playoffs.

I think it's safe to say that an overwhelming majority of posters on a Blue Jays message board would prefer to see the Jays make the playoffs over the Angels.

Even though they changed the name from Anaheim to Los Angeles, the fanbase for the Angels are still pretty much in Orange County - about 40 mi south of downtown LA. When you think of "LA fans", it's actually the Dodgers as their fan base is what could be thought of as the metropolitan LA area. The majority of those that live in Orange Co probably wouldn't consider themselves to be "Angelenos". Going to a Dodgers game vs an Angels are 2 completely different experience. If I'm going with someone who has kids and are not die hard Dodgers fans, I typically take them to an Angels game. It's much more of a family atmosphere not to mention cheap beer. Moreno may be an idiot when it comes to meddling in baseball ops but one of the first thing he did when he took over the team was to lower beer prices. For that, I'll never forget it. It's like what Blank did with the new stadium in Atlanta but Moreno was the first to do it. Dodgers game are enjoyable too mind you but it's more "urban", edgier if that makes any sense

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Being reported that this guy has a damaged UCL! Oh no. I found the Passan tweet and then scrolled down to see if there was more info in the comments. Twitter is such a f***ing cesspool.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Yeah confirmed by Passan for those who haven’t seen it.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Meh, when I get something from Japan which is damaged...they send me a replacement right away
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 So I guess Otani will never pitch again according to retarded butthurt Yankee fans on Twitter. My favourite one was the Padres fan. Yeah, whew! We didn't sign Otani so he'd be out for a year and a half where we wouldn't have made the playoffs anyway and then become active maybe when we don't have a complete dumpster fire of a team anymore!

I liked all the laughing gifs. It's great that we might not get to see one of the best talents on the planet debut until 2019.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 That's China you racist No it isn't, the Chinese company disappears before you can contact them about a replacement. Now THAT may be racist.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Not sure if this was posted earlier somehere, but Gibbons was asked why fans should get a season ticket and he responded “jokingly” to “come watch John Gibbons’ last season managing the club”. Not sure if this is really a joke given that he’s entering his last year and there is no extension rumours. Could also be publically indicating that he would like an extension. How does everyone feel about this? I would love for Gibby to stay tbh, apart from making a bit of bonehead pitching changes he’s done really well. Especially at being a good people person and managing the egos in the team.

Not if you order on Amazon. You could even lie about not getting your item and they'd send you a replacement.

Just a giant teddy bear of a human being.

That was my first thought too until I read that he’s on his last year lol. It might be one of those jokes you tell with a purpose like “hey I only have one year guys, get brewing on an extension”
