Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 If Connor Greene can keep the walks under control that would be great
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Conner Greene juice from a member of the Trenton Thunder broadcast team: It's crazy that he was barely touching 90 when we drafted him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 It's crazy that he was barely touching 90 when we drafted him. Grant he's been throwing 100 for a decade now and nothing has changed
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Tellez is really struggling Is he getting a steady diet of off speed pitches?
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Author Posted April 20, 2017 Is he getting a steady diet of off speed pitches? Maybe. I haven't watched. Hasn't had an XHB since he homered twice on opening day. His profile hasn't changed so I'm not concerned. He could go on a tear over the next 4-5 days and his numbers would be back up to normal.
Ray Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Tellez takes a while to adjust. He was hitting .164 in April of last season in AA before going on a tear. Granted this is a little bit different. He still managed a .345 OBP in April meaning he was still walking quite a bit last season. Right now he's sitting at a .244 OBP. I'm not too concerned though. I'm sure he'll be fine.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 DSJ continues to mash. Tellez dropped in the order Jose Fernandez 2.0 continues to dominant (anyone have any reports on him? what's changed?) Mayza seems to have turned it around. Bradley Jones played 2nd base last night? I thought he was a 1st baseman?
admin Site Manager Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Tellez is really struggling Never been a huge fan but he started to win me over last year. Seems to be a hard worker, let's see if he can adjust. Other than that, the farm doesn't seem to be in too bad of shape. A lot of lower levels, but pretty exciting to follow right now.

If find it incredibly exciting to follow the farm system (through box scores only). It kind of reminds me of when I was 12 years old (before streaming, before lots of non-blue jay games were on tv, heck, before all the jays games were even televised). I can't thank King enough for doing these reports (as I probably wouldn't bother looking up the box scores on my own otherwise).
spats Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 While the big team is s***ing the bed, some of the prospects are off to a great start. Bo and Brad Jones are 1st and 2nd in BA in low A, Jansen 2nd in High A, Alford leading the league in AA and Dwight Smith having a good year in Buffalo. Looks like there is some hope for the future.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I know the sample size is stupidly small, ~130 PA, but man Bichette's line is silly. .419/.512/.571 23:13 K:BB across two levels as an 18/19 year old
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Stilson going 4k's without a walk should have got him honourable mention in the three stars. Gurriel coming out of the game I assume was a planned thing?

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 He is a 3B but they have had him playing 2B this year as well Fangraphs incorrectly lists him at 1st. He's certainly an interesting player - even more so if he can play 3rd and/or 2nd.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 He told me in Dunedin rhat he wanted to be called up in June Crazier things have happened lol It would help instead of having Latos pitch
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 He told me in Dunedin rhat he wanted to be called up in June Crazier things have happened lol June seems a bit early but if we're out of playoff contention we could see 4 or 5 prospects called up in September and get significant playing time.

He spent time at 1B/3B last year and this year has been playing 2B I assume partially since Vlad is locked in at third.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Lansing is an awesome farm team to follow right now. It's a mix of legit prospects with pedigree (Vlad and a tier well below him in Bichette) and guys who are raking and could force themselves to become prospects (Jones). Guys like Palacios could fall in to the latter category too.
