This is what Mike Podhorzer has to say about A-a-ron Sanchez...

On the other hand, Aaron Sanchez has become the 2017 version of 2016 Dallas Keuchel. The extreme groundballer with a low BABIP that everyone is falling all over themselves to try justifying as sustainable because he just looks so darn good on the mound. Except that he doesn’t induce pop-ups, and allowed a Soft% and Hard% barely better than the league average. If he was such a weak contact king, it should appear in some stat that isn’t BABIP. So I’m not believing it, and paired with his average strikeout rate, expect his ERA to rise toward his 4.00+ SIERA.

I agree. The blister issue sounds like it could linger too.

You can now buy from stubhub and get into Jays games using your phone. Looking forward to getting infield tickets for 20$ at the gate.

Can't do that as all the listings are de-activated 2 hours before gametime.

since when? I've never seen them do that for an MLB game.

are you sure? I thought they remove them by the 2nd inning.

Cubs and Dodgers games goes off the board 6 hours before the start of the game. Indians is 2 hours before too I think. That is why the teams partner with Stubhub so that:

1. Reduce the amount of fake tickets which helps out everyone.

2. Protect their own ticket brand so people can't just buy tickets 10 min before they walk into the game instead have to buy from the box office.

3. Know how many tickets are being sold on Stubhub and can reduce the amount of brokers as they will know who they are.

It's at gametime when they are removed. It would be a mistake to do that. Several hundred people in the downtown core buy from them before game time. It would effect gate attendance and concession revenue etc. Il be pretty annoyed if this is the case. I bought off my phone 5 minutes before the game in Cleveland...

Great news! StubHub is now integrated for barcode delivery for the Toronto Blue Jays. This means all Blue Jays tickets will now be securely and conveniently delivered using the barcode numbers on your tickets.

• Instant Download listings will stay active on StubHub up until two hours before the start of each game.

I just got this email. How f***ing stupid is that. So we can't buy or sell up until game time now. Going to give StubHub a call

Really annoying. Last fall I went to a few mid-week games for like $10, buying 30 minutes before the game and printing.

If the pre-game firesale no longer exists at the 2 hour cutoff then I'll be super disappointed.

I don't see why they would do this. There is no benefit to stubhub, the Jays, buyers or sellers.

I guess the argument is that a more stable secondary market legitimizes the team's own box office.

The team also benefits from impulse attendees, rather than secondary sellers benefitting.

The ballpark is right downtown with thousands of people leaving work between 5 and 7 pm. The only people benifiting are the scalpers, who now have practically the whole market 2 hours before gametime.

I've seen the kind of seats that are remaining at the box office, all garbage, even for weekday games. I'm sure myself and other season ticket holders are not going to be happy about this.

Benefits are that all the tickets that are sold on Stubhub are guaranteed. The Blue Jays obviously get $$ out of the deal lets not forget plus by limiting it to 2 hours it forces people to buy tickets from the box office instead of scavengers buying off stubhub 10 min before.

Yeah I'd say people who are just looking to get rid of them will just do so 2.5hrs before game time... Which might not be a bad thing. The cost will be cheap and you got some time to dick around before game time.

Jonah Keri on the Jays 1B and LF situation

“In baseball you have to assume bad scenarios as well as good ones [will occur],” Keri said on Sportsnet 590 The FAN. “And you’ve already created, for no good reason, two horrible scenarios at two of your power positions, which really makes no sense.”

“The rumblings that have been made about Steve Pearce playing a bunch, let’s hope they come to fruition because I don’t like Justin Smoak, I don’t like their left-field situation,” said Keri, adding that those situations are “terrible.”

“Pearce needs to play, as much as possible in one or both positions, and then they need to figure out the other position.”

Its refreshing to hear someone say how bad our 1B and LF is. Every sportsnet reporter never acknowledges how bad it is

I think they are too low on the rotation by a lot but it's understandable. Yes, our depth sucks but a lot of teams don't even have serviceable #5 SP's, we have a quite capable one. And projection systems aren't ever really going to like our rotation all that much because Estrada is a FIP-beater as is the new post-Pirates version of JA Happ. They are basically saying that Estrada is a #4 or 5 SP in this league when over the past two years his RA-9 has him as a good #2 SP. That's going to make a huge difference in rankings like these. They treat Happ similarly. Just taking a quick peak at the rankings, no way the Angels have a better rotation than us. Same with a lot of those teams. I think I'd put them behind the Giants at #9.

I think they are a lot closer to being right on the bullpen. Osuna is elite but we rely on two guys who are a little dicey in Grilli and Biagini. The good thing is I think the lower leverage guys are pretty solid. So we've got a great closer, iffy setup men, and good low leverage guys. Overall that's probably better than #16 but I don't think by a whole lot. Maybe #12 or so?

And right on cue, fangraphs takes a look at the Jays rotation because of their article on projections.

What difference does it make

They don't do any variance analysis so there is no tracking of their projection system

Probably a monkey picking in the dark can do just as good.

Jay's pitchers are likely to get injured meanwhile Tanaka has about as much elbow cartilage as piece of string

should still get deals from stubhub only the deals will be just outside 2 hrs from gametime

You could probably get deals from the random fan but brokers control like 95% of the tickets on Stubhub so they would just offload to the guys on the street,

You and me both, brotha.

I'm not a big fan of the white panel look but it's better than a stupid f***ing red maple leaf or something.
