Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Now is an awesome time that you can sign guys for a reasonable contract. Fits for us on a minor league deal may be Ryan Howard, Mourneau or Adam Lind. I still think any of these guys in the Blue Jay lineup can contribute. We were apparently interested in Yusmeiro Petit last off season. Petit, Latos, Tom Wilhelmsen, Alfredo Simon, Kevin Jepson all intriguing arms. Lets go bargain shopping! You have a good overall point, but Ryan Howard has been a very bad baseball player for years now.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Ryan Howard had 19.0 career WAR in 2009 at the age of 29. He's played in all 7 Major League Baseball seasons since then (840 games), and his total career WAR now is 19.4.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Shameless self promotion but also maybe interesting: I did win expectancies all the way down to pitch level (link)

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Missed it but supposedly Pete Walker talked about Biagini stretched out during Spring and will pitch out of the pen. But might be the first they go to in case of injury.

I was just going to post this... he talks about the staff/pen/Biagini/strikezone change/WBC/ etc... not a bad listen... http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-joe-biagini-potentially-find-spot-starting-rotation/
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/austin-hedges-learned-how-to-hit/ Someone teach Reese to leg kick please.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Lol nice signature. Post of the year candidate.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 it will be interesting, could be another "Sanchez should start or relieve" situation again Nah, not even close. Biagini ceiling has never been close to Sanchize

GodDonaldson Verified Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Ticket presale for the Inside Pitch subscribers started today.. Was able to grab pair of tickets for the home Opener (516 row 10) PS: It said you can only buy maximum of two tickets for the home opener and Canada Day. However, I'm probably gonna try to grab three more next Thursday.. To bring at least one more friends to the game.. Depending on who am I going with, I'm probably gonna sell tix to Stubhub.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/josh-donaldsons-last-four-seasons-in-context/ Cool article on how BOSS JD is (not that many of us needed a reminder).
rydermike Verified Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Arbitrators see stromans hair, immediately award decision in favour of jays.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Stroman strikes me as exactly the kind of player who would get upset over an arbitration hearing.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Stroman strikes me as exactly the kind of player who would get upset over an arbitration hearing. What exactly are you basing that on
King Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 What exactly are you basing that on Same thing he based his Conner Greene hate on.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Stroman strikes me as exactly the kind of player who would get upset over an arbitration hearing. He probably would but I just can't see a guy with his kind of work ethic half assing it when the season actually starts. He respects his teammates way too much to not give it his all, he ain't Vince Carter.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 What exactly are you basing that on He seemed pretty upset after a lot of peops bashed his new hair, I could see the arb process getting to him as well.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 What exactly are you basing that on He's extremely conceited and defensive. It's a fair assumption.
george09 Verified Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Found this thread on the bluejays subreddit that had linked a thread from the subreddit "photoshopbattles" where they photoshopped Tulo's funny facial expression when he took that deep breath in the batters box. Some of them are pretty funny http://i.imgur.com/gDcgHz7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wCptSmZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sMcEzmO.jpg Animated gif they made lol http://loopnroll.com/p/LOmnW

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Stroman strikes me as exactly the kind of player who would get upset over an arbitration hearing. I can see this too but part of me also says how much of this is him and how much is his agent?
Sorrow Verified Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Rosenthal and someone else who I can't recall think Toronto is looking for another 1B, mentioning Pedro Alvarez as an option.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 he actually had a decent year with the stick. I think I'd rather go with another OF and stick Pearce there tho.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Rosenthal and someone else who I can't recall think Toronto is looking for another 1B, mentioning Pedro Alvarez as an option. but Pedro Alvarez isn't a first baseman...
